After months of brief border skirmishes, Iran and the Taliban today exchanged military fire by the border, with Iranian artillery striking Taliban positions near the city of Zaranj in Afghanistan.

Reports of casualties on the Taliban side and the Taliban have pledged to respond.

Time for Iran to put the thermobaric warheads and Ababil-5 UAVs to use.

1) Prevent all Afghans from entering Iran
2) Use UAVs to eliminate HVTs inside Afghanistan
3) Massive use of thermobaric warheads to turn any Taliban positions near the border to dust

Taliban were gifted a huge military arsenal from the USA as a leaving gift. But most of that is APCs and rifles etc for ground forces, luckily they don't have any air-defences or missiles capable of striking deep inside Iran. So Iran can keep this to an exchange of blows from a distance, which favours Iran.

In 2017 Hajizadeh mentioned an Iranian "father of all bombs" which was 10 tons. An at-distance military exchange with the Taliban terrorists is a good opportunity to test these weapons on live targets.

Yeah they can close the border to any and all trade which would severely impact the Afghan economy.

They can send in an expeditionary force to establish a buffer on the border or to secure the water rights via force (unlikely option).

Unlike when Taliban was a rag tag guriella force they now have to govern. Which means they have to answer to critics and their population. They have to provide services and keep the economy flowing somewhat. So they can certainly be pressured into making concessions.

Kinetically yes Iran can certainly kill many Taliban. But that won’t change the reality on the ground, which is unless Taliban leadership truly changes their course then their relations with their neighbors will be frosty.

However Taliban needs to get overthrown if they continue their mischief

Nothing of the sort. Some opposed preemptive war and indiscretionary, panicked reactions. Rightly so. Iran is not going to fall into zio-American traps like Saddam in 1990.

Military action is evidently called for in case of an (immediately impending) aggression, not a single minute earlier. Because that would not only be illegal but above all, would ruin the political capital required in the framework of such an undertaking.

The problem is we have lots of afghan wannabes in the tribal areas

Had afghanis cooperated with us,they would have got our help.
But they are absolutely null in building international relationships
