Iran signs MOU with China to cooperate in Chinese construction of two nuclear reactors at Chabahar

Lol! that won't happen my friend. take a look at the massive rivers that flow into it. We actually have issue with raising water level there.
I hope so, Caspian sea has no out flow and only rivers come in and water only can evaporate , same was Aral sea with the difference that it poured into Caspian sea as well but there was a time USSR closed some rivers to the Aral sea and it is vanishing now. They made a dam and saved what is left of it.

If there is a flow out from Caspian sea we basically damage the equilibrium and we need to be careful, although I am in favor of the Canal but I am worried of miss management that may destroy the Caspian sea. I wish all countries around the Caspian sea get together on this project so there is an international coalition to monitor such canal so it automatically safe guards any misuse. May be they can chip in its building cost and benefit shipping discounts and rights through it.

I am just scared my friend. I am joining "Delvapasan Group on this" :)

I do agree. There are many subtleties that may be affected by such canal. One is the fact that Caspian sea's water minerals are different from those of open seas. Persian Gulf water is much more saltier. Let's hope for the best but with global warming coming, I think we need to worry about rising sea level in Caspian sea as the Russian rivers will carry much more discharge than they used to have.

Just so you know Caspian sea is already connected to Black sea using some similar canals. That was one of the reasons contributing to rising sea level around 25 years ago:

Such a canal linking Persian Gulf with Caspian sea will be an ecological disaster. The proper way of doing things would be to implement international treaties similar to these for the benefit of all:

Growing presence: China to build 2 reactors in Iran- Nikkei Asian Review

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- China will construct two nuclear power reactors in Iran, the Iranian Students' News Agency reported Wednesday, citing comments from the head of the Middle Eastern country's atomic energy organization.

These mark the first reactors China will build in Iran. Iran now has only the Bushehr nuclear power plant, built with help from Russia in the country's southwest.

The project, announced by Ali Akbar Salehi, is moving foward following the nuclear deal on Iran reached July 14 after months of negotiation with the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany. The facilities will be set up on the southeastern coast facing the Gulf of Oman.

An active trading partner with Iran, China has strengthened its presence there as Japanese and European companies refrained from doing business in the country due to Western economic sanctions.

Iran hopes to rely more on nuclear power to meet its growing energy needs.

Last November, Russia's state-owned Rosatom nuclear energy company reached an agreement with Iran to build eight reactors, including four at the Bushehr plant.

TEHRAN (FNA)- Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi in a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing explored avenues for reinvigorating and bolstering mutual cooperation.

During the meeting in the Chinese capital on Thursday, Salehi and Wang underlined the need for the further expansion of bilateral ties, specially in the field of nuclear cooperation.

The Chinese foreign minister conveyed to Salehi an invitation letter for his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif to visit Beijing soon.

Salehi arrived in Beijing on Wednesday morning for an official three-day visit.

Salehi met Chairman of China's Atomic Energy Authority (CAEA) Xu Dazhe on Wednesday evening.

During the meeting, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on nuclear cooperation.

Salehi also visited the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE) and some other Chinese institutions which are active in field of peaceful nuclear programs.

The AEOI is willing to develop cooperation with Chinese Atomic Energy Authority on construction of small new power plant with the capacity of 100 megawatts with cost-effective expenses in light of the capability to generate electricity for limited area, produce industrial steam plant and desalinate water.

In relevant remarks on Wednesday, Salehi said Tehran was conducting negotiations with Beijing to construct two 100-MW nuclear power plants.

"We are in talks with the Chinese over the construction of two 100-MW power plants," Salehi said, addressing AEOI staff in Tehran.

He also referred to the contract signed with Russia on building two other nuclear power plants, and said, "God willing, the construction work will start this year."

Salehi expressed the hope that 4 new nuclear power plants would start workshop operations in the next 3 to 4 years in Iran as well.

He also referred to Tehran's achievements in nuclear talks with the world powers, and said, "They failed to materialize all their objectives, at least in technical aspects."

We destroy the result of years of our scientists research to let Chinese build another one for us, GREAT! but great disaster.

Our Scientists have to finish the one they have already started, besides think of it as importing a new technology. This firm is building this type of reactor in USA as well. The country needs 20 of it, they have still time to build the other 15 left after finishing theirs. Why so negative about everything?

yeah, our scientists can finish it, or better to say gutting it and letting Chinese finish it. apparently there is no difference for you.

Lets make Sistan and Balouchestan a new economic hub of the country.there are some mega projects going on in that province.a new car manufacturing plant with 1 milion cars per year capacity and so many more factories,a mega port and now we have two nuclear plants to provide electricity for the future industrial activities.thats great!

I don't take it serious but if you want to know, it means that even if you don't mean it. I don't take it serious. There is no point getting upset on forum! anyway we come here to enjoy and learn and waste time with others who like to do the same!

Yeah, love to see the people there get some break from poverty and miserable life. This is the right thing to do. No government did pay attention to those poor people because they were located in a volatile province.
