Iran as a matter of policy has been a safe home for millions of afghans for decades.

Iran has spent billions of dollars to feed and educate afghan refugees.

the Iranian economy loses multi-billion dollars from afghan laborers using the Iranian economy and sending the money back to family in Afghanistan.

the most stable and prosperous parts of Afghanistan are regions that border Iran like Heart. Iran has even donated big ticket items like building highways on the afghan side that connects to Iran, and power stations, and a lot more aid.

Iran has always been very good to afghans, despite facing an all out war, and all out economic warfare from the west during this time itself. I don't what else Iran can do for afghans really. we even spared their country destruction when a bunch of Taliban goat humpers killed Iranian diplomats.

if Afghans start believing western propaganda against IRan, that would turn the Iranian people against them for real, and the only loser would be them. I personally have no problems with law abiding afghans working in Iran. They are actually preffered to Iranian workers in many industries (like construction) because they are very hard workers who rarely complain or create problems.

I suspected something was weird about this story when I first saw it, I don't think they would shoot without some major reason, running a checkpoint definitely seems like it could be the explanation which makes sense.

You are not aware of the history of abuse of Afghan refugees by the Iranian government. This did not begin with this ongoing issue, it has been throughout.

There is a reason why the vast majority of Afghan refugees came to Pakistan and not Iran.
