A lot of very educated Iranian families have migrated from Iran to the west over the years due to some policies of the mullah regime, if they were around things would have been even better.

All non-theocratic leaders are not like the shah. If Iran becomes a democracy with more limited role of religion in state and national policy matters , i can bet it would do even better. Iran is doing well not because of this regime , it is doing well despite this regime.Some Iranians may not like my saying this though.

True, but even the newer immigrants from Iran have the tendency to intermingle in western societies. I see no significant cultural obstacles; we both cherish the same values like education, prosperity and security.

There are many and we won't know about them until Iranians aren't free to speak their minds. As you say, we're not in Iran so we can't decide for Iroonis. But first things first: the mullahs either need to evolve or go. One of these two events will happen. Right now Iran is a pressure cooker and if the air inside isn't somehow allowed to escape, smtg nasty will happen.

Whatever the heck Iranians decide to do is fine with me, but what's the point of asking what the options are when they're not even given a chance? The more impt question is why aren't they being given a chance?
