Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has asked India to invest in infrastructure projects worth $8 billion, including an expanded role in developing a strategic port that will open up access to Central Asia, the Iranian envoy in New Delhi said on Friday.

I think Iran-India under sea pipeline is more feasible now. TAII can also fructify... Any project which ahs P in this,, will take too much political will and time to complete.

This is very good news though balancing act is needed vis-a-vis Iran and Israel.

Suddenly Iran seems to be a much more lucrative partner. Israel can offer us weapons but that's it. With Iran the strategic and tactical possibilities are endless. We have also seen Russians and Chinese pivot to Iran and so our goodwill will only last so long.

Modi has to visit Iran as soon as possible preferably before Israel. Israelis are pragmatic folks, they will understand us having relationships with Iran.

There is no doubt that a naval base will be boon for us. But for that to happen, deep mistrust between Iran and Pakistan is a pre requisite. I therefore would prefer a strategic partnership with regular port calls by IN ships to Iranian ports. Lets see what future has in stores for us..

Strategic means strategic for our oil security.If we can pull that level of relation with Iran they will become more important nation in ME for us .
More important than Israel and will give tough time to Arabs in competition. In fact they already are giving that.

Very good , at least after this news some Pakistani member will stop all the ga ga of India being removed from Chahabar port. We must make sure ONGC should get Farsi gas block ASAP, but India need to pay extra as it has not develop the gas field in the stipulated time, for whatever reason, I think for INDIA-IRAN strategic friendship should face dificulties on some hundreds of millions should not be a obstacle.

International relations are not black and white. During cold war era India had defence ties with USSR but US was the largest economic partner. I dont see any difficulty in balancing Iran and Israel as India's foreign policy is based on principles and pragmatism and goes without saying national interest.
