Iran ranked 2nd in US CanSat 2013 competitions

In all seriousness and tbqh, You thought right. Many Profs and Scientists had fled away from Iran by the current repressive regime. I have seen many talented in the West like the UK, Germany, France, Canada, and the US. Even here in KSA, the college I went to had a bunch of Iranian Academicians who sought an asylum.

If things continued this way, Iran will loose a lot from such issues like brain-drain and discouragement.

We also have a doctor who is from Iran in TU, he sought asylum and is currently teaching biochemistry there, he says he enjoys the higher freedoms in KSA compared to Iran.

We've got the same here in KSU, and SNG Unis, so yeah nothing out of the bule.

Dude! Dude! Dude! You're from the freaking Saudi Arabia, yet you have the audacity to talk about "Iranian repressive regime"?!

FYI, barbaric and tortuous forms of execution were imported (to Iran) from YOUR culture, don't try to look sophisticated, it doesn't work! :lol:

First of all, many rising nations have brain drain problems:

India:

China:

And even such a first class HighTech nation like Germany has brain drain problems:

Exodus of Skilled Labor Saps Germany - WSJ.com

Since 2008, more people have been emigrating from Germany than flocking to it, reversing decades of migration inflows to Europe's biggest economic engine. Demographic analysts say engineers, scientists, doctors and other highly skilled workers make up a disproportionate share of the retreat.

In contrast, Germany's tough immigration laws, a rigid labor code and more inward-looking hiring practices have kept it from importing enough skilled labor to compensate.

What's of particular concern to German political and business leaders is that many of those leaving hark from the cutting-edge sectors that Germany views as crucial to safeguarding its export advantage, such as nanotechnology, electrical engineering, biotechnology and clean technologies. Unless it can stanch the flow, they argue, the country's economy is at risk.

"We all have to be clear on how potentially explosive this labor shortage is," German Labor Minister Ursula von der Leyen said in a recent German newspaper interview.

And when it comes to Iran, it won't continue this way, for a couple of years yes, but then it will decrease substantially, just look at the pace of Irans development:

In 1998 ----> rank 49 : SJR - International Science Ranking

In 2003 ----> rank 39 : SJR - International Science Ranking

In 2008 ----> rank 22 : SJR - International Science Ranking

In 2011 ----> rank 17 : SJR - International Science Ranking

Iran today ranks first in the world in scientific growth:

And quantity-wise, Iran will rank 4th in the world in just five years (Saudis will be 43rd):

And considering this incredible pace of development, it is clear that in the middle of the next decade, Iran will be quantity-wise and quality-wise at eye level with Germany.

So as you can see, Irans brain drain will shrink continuously within the next 10 to 15 years.

A regime which has been the main cause to let intellectual/ordinary people to flee the country is in no way comparable with the others. If KSA was as repressive as Iran then mind telling us why your own fellow have countrymen sought asylum here? Well, that indicates something, especially in countries that's being ruled by theocratic fanatics, can't you see your own people starving at the hands of those Mullahs? Amazing!

Not true, We don't hang people, remember how nervous you guys were when Argo exposed the true face of your regime?

Additionally, we don't stone people to death as well, which refutes your claim.

Interestingly, however, Persians had lost their identity as they've been Islamized which had led to a phenomenon sociologists call, "identity confusion", maybe you'd taken some negative social values, but I doubt that Iran gained anything more than that.

All the best @Homajon to your country.
