Any future conflict with Iran if it happens will not be with Apache's. it will be with naval forces, bombers, fighters, and missiles. And if they try and introduce shoulder fired missiles in Afghanistan. That would be a tipping point that would cause hostilities between the U.S. and Iran.

If the turning point in Afghanistan switches to Taliban favour because of Iranian arms then what do you think the response will be? I doubt the U.S. will go to war with Iran in any case, drone strikes are only invited in Pakistan. Elsewhere there will be things shot at from shoulders. I don't know, it seems messy for ISAF. Troop levels need to hit 250,000 strong for a fresh round of COIN ops until everyone is accounted for. Pakistan needs to be given authority to mine the Durand Line and there should be oversight. Next issue you solve Kashmir and you can go home proud and smiling in 7 years.

I don't think the Saudi regime is supporting the Taliban since 2001. Also Iran is only bankrupt on the face of things. Half of their economy can be classified as a black market. They can easily sustain war (in their minds) because it is all they ever plan for.

bozorgmehr Jan, i thought the same thing at first, but both missiles are launched by the same launcher. The missile with the long and thin warhead is the toophan 5 and the one with the round warhead is the qaem. If you look at the right of the 8th image on the link i gave you, it says Qaem in Persian.

I see what you mean Abi jan. But it's curious that the new ATGM should have the extra set of control surfaces, but the dedicated SAM be in the shape of traditional ATGM. But that is nothing new. It sometimes takes a while for things to make sense with thick layer of misinformation surrounding Iranian projects.
