Iran plane crash kills 40

how come ? i heard they are obliged to do so ?

the result of ignorance will be sth like this . 40 innocent ppl just vanished

they are obliged for scheduled checks and maintenance
the checks and maintenance is done by the staff who work for certain airlines at certain airports
it would be too expensive to keep some staff at every airport and too time consuming to do it before every flight

Accidents and Incidents

The An-140 has suffered six major incidents, including four crashes with total loss of life.

On 23 December 2002, an Aeromist Kharkiv An-140 carrying many of Ukraine's top aviation designers and engineers crashed into a mountainside, as it was preparing to land at Isfahan, Iran, killing all 44 on board. The delegation was to have attended the inauguration ceremonies for the first HESA IrAn-140 frame.[16] The probable cause was controlled flight into terrain (CFIT).
On 12 August 2005, a Safiran Airlines HESA IrAn-140 diverted to Arak International Airport due to an engine failure. During landing, the aircraft overran the runway and was badly damaged. There were no fatalities. The cause of the engine failure appeared to be technical problems with the fuel control unit. The airframe was eventually repaired in the early 2010s and is to be used by HESA as a test bed for the future versions of the aircraft. After the Arak incident, Safiran Airlines returned its two remaining examples to HESA. These two aircraft eventually found their way to the Iran Police Aviation.
On 23 December 2005, Azerbaijan Airlines Flight 217, an Antonov An-140 4K-AZ48, plunged into the Caspian Sea about 20 miles north of the capital, Baku. All 18 passengers and five crew members died. The plane was on its way to Aktau, Kazakhstan. [17] Investigations discovered that three independent gyroscopes were not providing stabilized heading and altitude information to the crew early in the flight.[18] The airline grounded its remaining An-140 airplanes, and cancelled plans to purchase more of the type from Ukraine.
On 15 February 2006, an IrAn-140-100 (test registration HESA 90-04) crashed at Shahin Shahr, Isfahan Province, Iran, during a training flight.[19] All 5 pilots on board were killed.[20] The cause was an engine failure during takeoff, which appeared to haven been due to technical problems with the fuel control unit.
On 06 September 2008, a South Airlines An-140 coming from Lviv, Ukraine, suffered a front landing gear failure (stuck inside the aircraft fuselage) during landing at Kiev Boryspil Airport. The aircraft landed on a specially prepared foam track using the two intact landing gears. None suffered any injuries and the aircraft was put back to service in three weeks after a minor repair.[21]
On 10 August 2014, Sepahan Airlines (HESA) flight SPN 5915, crashed on take off from Tehran Mehrabad International Airport. The aircraft was on domestic service to Tabas. According the the initial reports, around 40 passengers and 8 crew members were aboard the aircraft. The airplane broke up and burst into flames. It was described that one wing has separated from the aircraft's fuselage, very shortly after it had taken-off. The aircraft was not very old as it made its first flight in year 2008. Its Registration number was EP-GPA and its engines were Klimov TV3-117VMA-SBM1.

And how come both its engines failed at the same time? A twin engined plane can continue flying even with one engine, shortly after take off.
One engine failed,I think.
anyway no twin engined aircraft can manage to survive when one of its engines is failed while "taking off".probably, the plane stalled right after the trust reduction which was due to engine failure.so the pilot was innocent,I think.

Plane crashes at Tehran’s Mehrabad airport; 39 reported dead

An Iranian transportation official says 39 people were killed and nine wounded when a regional passenger plane crashed Sunday while taking off from the capital, Tehran.

Deputy Minister of Transportation Ahmad Majidi provided the latest casualty figures in an appearance on state TV. The channel had earlier reported that all 48 people onboard had died. An airplane carrying 40 passengers crashed in a residential area after taking off from Tehran’s Mehrabad airport on Sunday morning.

The plane was bound for Tabas in north-eastern Iran and crashed into the Azad residential block on Mina 6 Boulevard.

IRNA reported that an engine shutdown caused the crash. Iran’s aviation sector has suffered repeated crashes which have been blamed by Iranian politicians on international sanctions.

Those sanctions have restricted Iranian carriers from buying new aircraft. For years, planes have been kept in service through parts imported on the black market, cannibalised from other planes or reproduced locally, aviation sources say.

Iran’s four largest carriers - Iran Air, Iran Aseman Airlines, Mahan Air and Iran Air Tours - all have average fleet ages above 22 years. They serve a market of 76 million people.

US companies Boeing Co and General Electric Co have said they are seeking to export parts to Iran under the agreement for sanctions relief.

The chief of Iran Air said the airline will need at least 100 passenger jets once sanctions against the country are lifted.

Mehrabad is located in a western suburb of Tehran and mainly functions as a domestic airport, although it also serves some international routes.

Tehran, Aug 10, IRNA – All 40 passengers, including seven children, of the crashed airplane have reportedly died.

The plane, belonging to Taban Airlines, crashed when its engine was reportedly shut down shortly after taking off from International Mehrabad Airport at 9:45 hours local time (0515 GMT) on Sunday.



The plane crashed near the Azadi residential area in northwest of Tehran.



Spokesman of Iran Red Crescent Society confirmed the crash in a telephone call to IRNA.



Hossein Derakhshan said no exact information was available on the cause of the crash, adding that an investigation team was sent to the site of the crash.



The plane was heading to the eastern city of Tabas in South Khorassan province

engine failure ? R u kidding me ? should'nt there be an inspection before flight ?
RIP to all the victims and my deepest condolences to the family members of the victims:(
Mate no matter how much you check and inspect a plane before flight these things happen sometimes as these are machines after all and machines fail sometimes even if you do regular maintainence,maybe the engine experienced some technical glitch only after it became airborne:sad:.

by the way about being able to fly with one engine I really doubt any commercial plane can withstand loosing half of its trust at the take off . (well at least I could not do that on simulators (Prepar3D)) when you want to take off you usually use the maximum trust and then after you reached determined altitude you reduce it for a commercial two engine airplane loosing one engine immediately after takeoff means loosing 50% of trust with no reserve to compensate that , and worse than that that engine act as break and result in the plane to rotate around itself and then loosing more power.
