Btw, one of the reasons for the US ‘Haqqani-Network’ pressure is also because serious headway has been made in connection to this IP line, MoUs have been morphed into solid agreements and this is ringing bells for the new couple US-India

The conglomerate of Iran and Pakistan has potential to convert the said partnership into the biggest energy corridor of not the region but the world! And obviously with China’s incessant need for cheap energy to support its herculean economy, it’s a win-win situation. That’s what they call ‘natural-business-alliance’

Afghanistan is a land-locked country. It relies on Pakistan and Iran to feed its population it always has. During tensions with Afghanistan in the 1960's Pakistan closed the borders and Afghanistan begged us to open back the borders. The only strategic location of Afghanistan is that its an immediate neighbour of all Central Asian Republics, while Pakistan is separated from CAR's through the narrow Wakhan Corridor, but our closest ally China is connected to CAR's, and Pakistan is not a landlocked country so we have more leverage over Afghanistan.

Pakistan is an immediate neighbour of a Middle Eastern country (Iran), Pakistan's Gwadar is just a few miles from a Gulf Country (Oman) and is situated right next to the strategic Straits of Hormuz and its busy oil shipping lanes, Pakistan is an immediate neighbour of two most populated countries on earth (China and India) while Afghanistan is connected to China through the narrow Wakhan Corridor. India and Afghanistan do not share a border and are not neighbours.

Pakistan has more startegic importance than a land-locked Afghanistan. India has no strategic importance, its surrounded by all South Asian countries and China.

And ofcourse we would want a friendly government in all our neighbouring countries. We are not desperate, its U.S. and India whose desperate.

And no country is going to be fighting over Afghanistan once America is gone. What is India going to do, send their troops to Afghanistan like the Soviets and American did? Oh wait, the crystal ball said India will have to wait 50 more years to be a superpower, so send in your troops then

When America leaves Afghanistan, since we all know they and NATO lost, USA will cease to be a Superpower. Central Asia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and China will probably be the bulwark of resistance against the western nations.

Even Americans themselves and the western nations realize that the times are changing and they can't handle it!

Imagine Pakistan, Afghanistan, Central Asia, and China forming a bloc. This would be the western nations' worst nightmare.

In my opinion I think if Russia is not willing to join such a bloc and is insisting to support India 24/7, then China should ditch Russia. China doesn't need Russia anymore. China needs to look for her interests.
China can probably have more influence in the CAR's. Since China borders more CAR's than Russia.

'Iran has longstanding relations with Pakistan’


* Iranian ambassador says both countries respect each other and have always supported mutual interests and understanding

KARACHI: Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran in Pakistan Masha’Allah Shakeri said that Pakistan and Iran has longstanding relations and if we go back, there had been historical, traditional, educational, religious and cultural relations between both countries, which are being strengthened day by day.

The Iranian Ambassador called on Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Qaim Ali Shah at his office here on Friday. Consul General of Iran in Karachi Abbas Ali Abdul-lahi also accompanied him.

Shakeri said both countries respect each other and have always supported mutual interests and understanding.

He maintained the people and the Iranian government united stand with the Pakistan government and its people.

He also lauded and appreciated the warm welcome extended to interior minister of Iran on Thursday by Sindh chief minister and Sindh government and also appreciated traditional gifts of Sindhi cap and Ajrak for all members of Iranian delegation.

Shakeri said there had been trade and business relations between Iran and city of Karachi, which was nearer centre of trade. He further assured that the government and people of Iran would further provide relief goods and other assistance, so that the rain-affected people are provided relief and are rehabilitated early.

Sindh CM said the Persian had remained official language of Sindh for long time. He said renowned preacher and poet Hazrat Makhdoom Nooh of Hala did the first translation of Holy Quran in Persian, while hundreds of poets, writers and researchers have contributed a lot for promotion of Persian with Sindhi language.

Shah highlighted the situation created due to heavy and unprecedented rains, which have damaged the economy of the province. He thanked the Iranian government for providing relief goods for rain-affected people.

Being regional powers, Iran and Pakistan need to decide a complete framework.

The biggest challenge to Pakistan is to balance between Iran and Saudi Arabia. Refusal to have boots on ground in Yemen as per Saudi request was a commendable effort in effort to maintain n equilibrium.

Pakistan through its offensives via Zarb-e-Azab is focused on dealing with the security position within its borders to be able to help in the take off for CPEC. This project can offer huge transit benefits not only to China but also to Afghanistan, Iran and hopefully India once completed.


With Iran, Pakistan signed nine bilateral cooperation agreements in May 2014 when Nawaz Sharif visited Tehran. These included provisions for countering terrorism and enhancing border security.

Both Iran and Pakistan need to understand that for a peaceful region, their cooperation and commitment to attain the goal is important. Both need to address the concerns felt by both in all sincerity.
