'Iran, Pakistan top regional powers': Iran

India and China will have to pay Pakistan transit fees to get gas from Iran. Do you think we will let the gas go to India for free

I don't see making lot of money. May be couple of pennies. It needs huge investment. If you pay interest to that money, you will not make any money. and maintainance.

Here example:

Investment 1 billion
maintainance 100million
energy to pump the gas

Currently for India if it takes 1$ for barrel to bring to india. India will not pay more than 50c to pakistan.

I see only pipe dream. Thats why the project is not even started.

The ancient silk route which connected the east with the west..lies in Today's Pakistan.
Pakistan is at the cross roads of south Asia and central asia (i understand this might be painful for the indian members here).

In his book the former US President Eisenhower wrote that the only country (in the region from Japan to Turkey) strategically most important for US is Pakistan...that is the reason...if u see during the cold war, later the soviet Invasion and then WOT...Pakistan has played a major role (unlike India..which is deep inside South Asia..with no strategic importance).

If India wants to get access to resources in Central Asia or Afghanistan or the resources in Iran..it would have to cross through Pakistan...If China wants to get gas or goods from Iran ..they have to pass through Pakistan...if China wants access to Arabian sea ( thats why its helping Pak build Gwadar port)...it will have to pass through Pakistan.

So those who claim Pakistan has no strategic importance...are living in a dream..and living far away from reality..i recommend them to wake up from their slumber !!!

You're wrong. The pipeline is complete on Iran's side, & there is currently work being done on Pakistan's side. So the project has much more than started.

You're wrong. The pipeline is almost complete on Iran's side, & there is currently work being done on Pakistan's side. So the project has much more than started.

pics or did not happen !
and Iran-indian pipeline is already following sea route,so no ultra strategically important Pakistan in between !

India is not serious about IPI because of U.S. pressure.

India can use animal dung to generate gas for all we care.

Major populated countries all over the world will soon be fighting for energy (if not already). Why do you think U.S. spent a trillion dollar war in Afghanistan and Iraq? To find Osama? He's dead so why are they still sticking around? Why did they enter Iraq? Weapons of mass destruction? Why did Soviets also spend a 10 year war on a poor country like Afghanistan?

The world knows that energy is scarce....and I'm glad Pakistan is not backing out of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline.

Any signed agreements between Iran and India for a "Iran-India sea pipeline project"?

Yes, but you are forgetting to include China in the picture, the most important piece of the 'puzzle'.

Gas pipeline project: Iran, Pakistan agree to speed up construction – The Express Tribune

Iran has already built its portion of the gas pipeline up to the Pakistani border. The Pakistani portion of the pipeline is expected to cost $1.65 billion, little more than a fifth of the total $7.5 billion price tag of the whole project. The total cost may rise after the completion of a feasibility study. It is expected to begin supplying gas to Pakistan by the middle of 2014.

The only land that connects China with Afghanistan is the narrow mountainous Wakhan Corridor and why would China chose war-torn unstable Afghanistan over its traditional neighboring ally for trade and energy route.

And China we all know its a big country. Western China is also part of China, as long as the energy gets to China....our job is done. Its upto China what to do with the energy when it reaches its soil. Still the route is quicker through Pakistan than the current route and their oil supplies wont have to go near India to reach China.

If the new silk road is built in the future, then the western part of China will become prosperous again.

Even it doesn't touch the Indian Ocean, but with great improved transportation and closer economical tie with Pakistan and the rests of the Central Asian/Middle East countries, the future for the western part of China will be shinning.

Thank you for your support brother, let China-Pakistan-Iran alliance rules the Indian Ocean in the near future.

Hehe ! no harm in dreaming. Actually we are buliding a port in Iran, just as you are building in Pakistan !

China wants to build up its permanent infrastructure in the Western China connecting to the Middle East.

The prosperity of our future economy depends on the development of the Western China, whereas the stability from the Central Asia to the Middle East is the key to keep our development smoothly.

Pakistan and Iran are the two powerful guardians who play an extremely important role in that area. We simply cannot let anyone to damage our permanent interests from the Central Asia to the Middle East. :coffee:

Actually, India will still be disadvantaged, because as of now, it can deploy its naval vessels in the Indian ocean to counter the Chinese counterparts, & China has to contend with that difficulty, along with the complications caused by South Korea & Vietnam. Once the Pakistan option is opened, China will not be disadvantaged against India. India will lose a leverage against China when the alternate route is activated. China is great at infrastructure development too, it will become the world's major economic superpower & will spread its influence in the Middle East & Central Asia, like it has in Africa.

Actually the pipeline is complete on the Iranian side. Reports say that the Iranians might even start building on the Pakistan side soon.

I love Pakistanis but I think you need to be a bit realistic, having nukes does not make you a superpower. You don't even control all of the land in your country so how can you be a regional power? Your economy is in shambles, you have an energy crisis, floods, insurgency etc etc. Pakistan certainly has the potential with its huge population, but they're not a superpower by anyones standards.

Ummm... who are you? Do you even know what you are talking about? According to the title it says Pakistan is a top regional power.

Pakistan is a top Regional power.

Western nations have said Pakistan is a strong country.

China calls Pakistan their "Israel."

Even Major politicians like Sonia Gandhi, the President of the Indian National Congress said Pakistan is much stronger than ever before.

America wants Pakistan for their interests in Asia and is competing with China for influence in Pakistan.

And now, Iran's Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar says Pakistan is an influential Muslim country in the region.

Pakistan is an IMPORTANT COUNTRY.

Seriously do research before uttering remarks which make you look foolish and embarrassingly stupid.

yeah pakistan is most important country in the world and india is sh*t------------ who cares

lol a famous political scientist said "India is big, but not important." Parag Khanna said this. He works at the New American Foundation. you can look up his quote.

Yes, India may have 1.2 billion people, but India isn't as important as Pakistan. By the way if I made you bubble burst, I'm not sorry, because I'm stating facts.
