Iran mass produced captured U.S. ScanEagle drone

. .
Well , I wonder why Iran must build upon Sea-scan which we don't have access to instead of Scan-eagle that we have several of them ?

Really, I thought "On 4 December 2012, it was reported that Iran stated it had captured an American ScanEagle" and that being the first. In which case, reverse engineering to mass production in january 2013 would be 'rather soon'. At what point earlier (please document) did Iran capture one or more other ScanEagles?

After SeaScan came the commercial Fugro GeoRanger and Integrator

The twin tailed one looks more lik e the Aerosonde, a precursor to SeaScan
Aerosonde was first developed by Insitu, but is now produced by Aerosonde Ltd.

On December 17, 2012, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi said Iran launched the production line of ScanEagle drones, adding the IRGC Naval and Aerospace Division has been employing the UAVs.

Fadavi announced on December 4 that a US ScanEagle drone had been captured by Iranian forces over the Persian Gulf upon the aircraft’s intrusion into the Iranian airspace.

Just inform me of any ScanEagle captures prior to 4 december 2012.... or face termination:azn:.

Most ScanEagles are owned and flown by contractors; some of these private crews are even based aboard American warships.

No wonder USN isn´t missing any ... Indeed, photo evidence released of the alleged ScanEagle by Iran showed no U.S. military markings.

But the same article states also
The Defense Department fields about 250 ScanEagles across all of the armed forces

Somehow, that doesn´t rhyme.

Meanwhile ...
Other countries in the region - such as the United Arab Emirates - also have ScanEagle drones in their fleets.

Cmdr. Jason Salata, a spokesman for the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet in Bahrain, said ScanEagles operated by the Navy 'have been lost into the water' over the years, but there is no 'record of that occurring most recently.'

Nonetheless, I find no report of ScanEagles being captured before the december 4, 2012 incident....

SO what if ... Iran developed a ScanEagle lookalike, based on commercial items, and then passes it of as a US drone...

buddy, nobody care what you can find or can't find. I do remember always hearing about the ScanEagle being in their posession in multiple numbers. As to where they got them from I've got no clue and I don't care. Whether from UAE or the UAV gods themselves I don't care.

You're also looking at English sources. That's as dumb as dumb can be! You need to be looking in Iranian sources. If you can't do that b/c of your lack of proficiency in the Parsi language than that's your problem. You're making conclusions b/c Press TV doesn't have reports on some random thing that happened 2-3 years ago?? Do you know how many of these small drones are flying all around Iran and how easily Iran can get its hands on them?

And who cares how many Iran has anyway? What matters is that we have an assembly line churning out ScanEagles. Thanks for the R&D spending American tax payers, really appreciate all the hard work.

Oh really.... that is like me suggesting you start reading Dutch sources. Why the F should I know Pharsi? It is not a commonly recognized international language.

Essentially you are saying, there are no sources that you can point to. I spend time on a lot of different fora. Including Chinese fora. I haven´t mastered Chinese/ Mandarin either. But at least the Chinese co/posters are willing to translate. And come up with credible leads.

From the bold part, I take it this could also include commercial-civilian sources (besides, obviously, catching uavs in the field).

If you post a claim and can´t back it up, you shouldn´t be here. You may not like my posts, but then again my country´s military doesn´t try to pass off 1400 ton corvettes as ´destroyers´ (and when a country does, don´t be surprised about generating a certain level of scepticism).

ps if nobody cares what I can find or nor, why bother with a response .....?
