All they wanted to say that Iran was capable of producing its own APFSDS rounds and they dressed it with a bit of fancy wording.

a typical APFSDS like the American General Dynamics KEW-A1 has a muzzle velocity of 1,740 m/s. (from wiki)

What is the big deal here? I can as easily see this headline coming out for any other country that is trying to develope an APFSDS.

Dude go and check the KSA Armed forces thread in Multimedia Section. I was pleasantly surprised how well armed KSA -AF are. I don't know how much KSA is self reliant in defense sectors but their equipment is 2nd to none in ME (May be Israel)

Iran has launched a mass production of 105-mm and 125-mm hypersonic kinetic anti-tank shells Sahib, Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi was quoted by the Mehr news agency as saying. Their speed fivefold exceeds the speed of sound, he added.

Vahidi said the new generation of shells is able to penetrate the multi-layer armor tanks, enter into it for half a meter and blast.


The damaging effect of these armor-piercing shells is based on the reserve of kinetic energy, which has a heavy core mounted in the bow of the anti-tank missiles.
