The Way China has developed the infrastructure of Tibet and Xinjiang is a great model to be implemented in Western Asian countries, especially large ones like that of Iran.

Anyways, have you seen the great infrastructure in Iran? Here's some pictures:

The last photo, awesome!
@Nihonjin1051 I actually have a Chinese edition of Lonely Planet Iran!

And get this --- they're able to build, maintain these DESPITE these insipid sanctions. Imagine what will happen with Iran when the sanctions are removed. Iran will grow double digit growth, at least. They have a young population, very eduated population, and abundant natural resources, and innovative industrial sectors.

If China and Japan invests billions, the dividends will pay off.

:)

IMPRESSIVE! SUGOI!

Who builds these? Iranian contractors alone? Or does Iran do what KSA, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait does and import Asian engineers and construction workers to do infrastructure development ?

China has billions of investment on infrastructure projects in Iran, like metro system of Tehran. We have already received a lot of condemnation from US.:) Especially warnings from Obama.:p:
More condemnation! No fear!

LOL! Who could ever forget about Barry's warnings.

What's next? A warning about future warnings? LMFAO!

@TaiShang :rofl:

"Red Line Warning" and that was 2013...LOL!

Thank you.

It was completely built by Iranian engineers. Under sanctions.

Not at all. Iran has capable engineers and companies. Though mismanagement remains a problem (Iran is not as good with management as Japan is, obviously :D).

The fact that Iran took up the responsibility of planning, designing and implementation is just impressive.

Then again Iran is not a 'puny' nation, its massive -- with over 80+ million people. :)

With a population like that, you can build anything. LOL!

More like worst economy, their debt is like 400% of their GDP or something, they always seemed on the verge of a financial disaster. They will be trying to invest in oil sector which is only beneficial for them and not the local population as it does not create a lot of jobs.

Japan is getting desperate, you shouldve thought about your future before invading China and committing all of those war crimes. Now youre hugging Iranian president.

I guess the US was right when it imprisoned its Japanese-Americans during WWII, pfffft.

I know you're kinda dumb, but this post was too crude even for you. :disagree:

Big deal !?

We have advanced industries :

How many countries in the world have the capability of producing a +2500 km range cruise missile ?

Beautiful country!

I don't know whether it's a coincidence of timing, but recent developments are happening like a well-concerted quartet between Islamabad-Tehran-Moscow-Beijing! Look, we got sanctions imposed on Iran now lifted, China building pipe-line from Iran to Pakistan, Russian building pipe-line in Pakistan, more RU/CN nuclear power for Iran, and PCEC, the AIIB, and many others contributing to an Eurasian integration. Things are already moving in a clear direction, which will benefits all people in the loop.

My opinion would be that with Moscow-Beijing as an stabilizing axis, the Eurasian Economic Belt has a vision to build an economic bloc supported by a full portfolio of physical infrastructures, with low-trade-barrier between the members. In the center core of it would be central Asia (current SCO members), Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Belarus, CEE (the 10 Central & Eastern European countries) and the peninsular ASEAN countries (Thailand, Laos, Burma, Cambodia, Cambodia, Malaysia).

In comparison, the Maritime Silk Route concept would be a reinforcement of existing trading routes. Infrastructures will include bigger/better sea ports, and every other ones needed for maritime economies. The key countries/regions will include ASEAN, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Iran, GCC states, African countries and Southern European countries like Greece, etc.

Despite on the Far East, the advanced industrialized countries of Japan, South Korea and Taiwan are already deeply integrated with rest of Asia forming the biggest and fastest growing industrial region in the world ("Factory Asia"), and will definitely continue to benefit from a booming, well-connected and more integrated Eurasian economy. Similarly this applies to Germany-led western Europe.

For Iran, I am sure that their people knows what is best for them. It's already a middle-income country (GDP/capita over $5,000) with high UN-HDI, has good industrial base and huge natural resources. Iran's growth potential is enormous, offering a lot of opportunities for both Iranians and other people.

About China's developmental model? Hard to describe, basically same as other East Asian countries I suppose. Average Chinese mentality is work hard, roll up the sleeves and get things done. Study hard, and make your kids study even harder. Balance income and spending, spend wisely (husbands and fathers only, that's sad), debt is very bad. Focus on doing what one is good at, and trade with others. Keep saving, re-invest what one earns, investing for the one's own future and for the next generations' betterment. I think that pretty much summarize China's model i.e. intensive industrialization, privatization for entrepreneurship, high savings rate, low consumption rate, education-centric, high investment rate, keep building infrastructure.

Speaking of tunnels, let me mention Niayesh Tunnel, that was open in 2013. Apparently, it is supposed to be the second largest city tunnel in the world.

Of course, I credit most of these Tehran projects to our mayor Ghalibaf who I voted for President in 2013 but he did not win.

@Shotgunner51 ,

Thank you for that very well written and specific introspective analysis of the Iranian economy and developmental potential. I would concur with you that , indeed, the Silk Road will lead to unlocking of the demographic potential for Central and Western Asia, particularly with the opening of trade between Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, with Russia, and to China and the rest of the countries in Central and South Asia. These largely landlocked countries can truly benefit with the silk trade route as it will enable direct access to the dynamic economies of ASEAN, which is even larger than that of India's (i think you mentioned this before in another thread, which i was amazed to learn about!). I do agree that the reduction of these trade barriers and import tariffs will serve as a positive conduit to stimulate further bilateral trade flows for these developing economies. In fact, I would like to make a particular reference of the damaging aspect of import tariffs; the United States actually has a damaging tariff on Japanese auto marts imports, a rate that is over 3%. This continues to be the very reason why the Japanese Auto Industry leaders sees the futility of the TPP due to the fact that the US is not willing to remove these insipid trade tariffs yet at the same time wants Japan to remove agricultural tariffs on US agricultural goods. You can't have everything your way!

One thing that I see in the potential between Iranian-Chinese economic ties is the completion of the proposed Iranian Oil Pipeline, which will not only deliver energy to China, but will direct it to East Asia, from where Japan and South Korea can tap into this vital energy source. It reduces our region's dependence on any one energy provider (GCC states or Russia), thus establishing energy security for all powers.

Let's examine , shall we?
