Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has praised Hezbollah’s victory over Israel in the 33-day war in 2006 as a humiliating defeat for the Tel Aviv regime.

Undoubtedly, this victory is “the resistance’s greatest ever, a source of dignity and exaltation for the Islamic world and a turning point in the history of Muslims’ fights against the usurping enemy (Israel),” Salehi said in a message to Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah on Wednesday.

The resistance along with the Lebanese nation foiled the enemies’ plots during the 33-day war and taught them an unforgettable lesson, the message said, expressing hope that the brilliant victory would prepare the groundwork for other victories of the resistance in the future.

Salehi’s message was submitted to Nasrallah by Iran's Ambassador to Beirut Ghazanfar Roknabadi on the sixth anniversary of the resistance movement’s victory in the 2006 war against Israel.

Nasrallah, for his part, praised the support of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the Iranian nation of the Lebanese people and said it played a significant role in the victory of the Lebanese nation during the 33-day war.

In a separate message, Salehi also congratulated his Lebanese counterpart Adnan Mansour on the event.

He said Lebanon’s victory in the 33-day against Israel represented the pinnacle of the resistance’s triumphs over Israeli aggressions.

He also said that the Iranian nation and government support Lebanon’s stability, security and development and called for the enhancement of Tehran-Beirut ties.

Yeah, what a victory, if that is victory then i wonder what is defeat? but then again in such state of denial there is no defeat...

'Victory' ? persians must have a different dictionary than the rest of the world.:bunny:

So "the rest of the world" to you means - US and its alies, you do realize there are more countries than that? :azn: While technically 2006 war was fought to standstill, but both in geopolitics and morally Hezbollah won - few thousands of them repelled vastly, and I mean VASTLY greater military force. No wonder Muslims treat it as a modern version of 300 Spartans :agree: Or Jews might appreciate example of little David beating giant Goliath.

How do you define victory? When a country reaches its goal in war,it's called victory.
Israel's goal at war was completely,destroying Hezbollah.Well they couldn't.

When you compare IDF army strength with ones of a few guerrilla fighters which their number doesn't exceed 5000,it is definitely called victory.
When you look at past Israeli wars with Arab states,it's definitely called victory. When you look at IDF defense budget and equipments and Hezbollah's,it was a victory.

Hezbollah casualty figures are difficult to ascertain, with claims and estimates by different groups and individuals ranging from 184 to 1,000. However, Hezbollah is known to have sustained heavier casualties than Israel during the conflict. Hezbollah's leadership announced that 250 of their fighters were killed in the conflict

A total of 121 IDF soldiers were killed in the war, including the two soldiers whose bodies were seized in the Zar'it-Shtula incident that started the war, whose fates weren't confirmed until their bodies were exchanged for Lebanese prisoners in 2008.
Israel didn't reach it's goal in war and today you see Hezbollah is ten times stronger than 2006.
Hezbollah did reach it's goal, defending against Israeli aggression. At the end, when Israel saw it could do nothing with Hezbollah,it started bombing civilians and and ordinary people.Like it or not,2006 war was a blow to Israel's face.

Why is Iran even supporting Arabs??
I'm not sure what do you mean, we don't support people based on their ethnicity or race. We are not enemy with anyone based on their ethnicity either. There are a lot of Arabic-speakers in Iran, a lot of Jews (excluding Israel, Iran has the biggest population of Jews in Asia) but we are together without any problem.

Dude you are part of central Asia not the middle east. You should not even care about what goes on there.

Those Hellzbollahs are the pro-Iranian Shia Arabs just like Assad, that's why the Sunni Arabs are pissed at them. :coffee:

So? What does supporting pro Iranian Arabs bring to Iran? It just makes them more enemies. Best to get out of the matter alltogether.

Half of Lebanon destroyed, over 1,500 Lebanese Civilians and Hezbollah killed.

What a victory

Considering the current situation choices like this may come back to haunt them.

Well that would only matter if they cared about their own countrymen. This is why I admire Israel more then Arabs. Arabs do not value their own countrymens lives the way Israeli's value the lives of their own. How often does an Arab blow up other Arabs? How often does An Israeli Jew do that to other Jews?

Didn't allies in World War II suffer much more casualties too?
So why is that called a victory for allies?
The high number of civilian casualties, comes from cowardliness of Israel, has nothing to do with Hezbollah.
They started bombing cities after they made sure they can't destroy or stop Hezbollah.
