We don't need RD35 for M-ATF
we need an cheap turbofan engine with 30-35 KN dry thrust for a two engined M-ATF ( 2 *30 KN = 60 KN dry engine) if we make two small turbofan engine with 30-35 KN dry thrust , that will be enough for a light fighter like M-ATF ....
we need some new and reliable fighter to replace them with old F-5 , F-7 - Mirage F-1 .... M_ATF is enough to improve our country security !!!
for sure we can't beat USA/Russia/Nato/China in quantity but we can secure our country air zone with proper fighter and M_ATF is enough for us , It will be a light and cheap fighter !!!
Wouldn't it be good to somehow get AVIC-I Shenyang Aero-engine Design & Research Institute improved engine WP-14II (Kunlun-2, WP-14B) which passed the tests and comes in upgraded variant of 8II J-(J-8IIH, maybe others) and J-7, the information is from 2008. Maximum thrust WP-14II is 8400 kp.
WP-14C Kunlun-3 an improved Engine over WP-14 Kunlun which has 75kN with afterburn [for the time being] OR a much better option of Chinese WS-12B Taishan [92kN-100kN] but is heavier ofcourse IF Iran would be looking to design-develop a capable F-18/Mig-29 Class Aircraft I don't see problem with Taishan Engine but heard its going to be in JH-7B therefore most likely not even undertable sales.
Best bet to negotiate under table for WP-14C Kulun-3 75kN
