Iran has executed a group of 20 “terrorist” Sunni prisoners for committing several murders and undermining national security, state media reported on Thursday.

“These people had committed murder… killed women and children, caused destructions and acted against the security and killed Sunni religious leaders in some Kurdish regions,” IRIB television quoted Prosecutor General Mohammad Javad Montazeri as saying.

He said all the executions — carried out by hanging — happened on Tuesday.

Iran’s intelligence ministry on Wednesday issued a statement detailing 24 armed attacks between 2009 and 2011, including bombings and robberies, apparently by a single group.

The “Tawhid (monotheism) and Jihad” extremist outfit were responsible for the deaths of 21 people in three western provinces in that time span, the ministry said.

“102 members and followers of the Tawhid and Jihad terrorist group were identified… some of whom were killed in armed clashes with police forces and some were arrested. Some of those arrested were sentenced to death while some received prison terms,” it added.

Montazeri said that the convicts, some of whom had come from abroad, followed “takfiri” ideologies, a term Shia-majority Iran uses for describing Sunni militants.

In 2009, the group allegedly assassinated two Sunni religious leaders Mamusta Borhan Aali and Mamusta Mohammad Sheikh al Islam — a provincial representative of Iran’s powerful Assembly of Experts.

Iran subjugate Sunnis. Don't allow them to build masjid. Every other day hang dozen of Sunnis for some fake BS. But if Saudis hang one shia cleric, who was openly inciting hatred and rebellion against govt, Iran got apeshit and Shia all around the world start posting FB pics and Iranian propaganda.

Iran executes Kurdish Islamists for armed attacks

DUBAI | BY BOZORGMEHR SHARAFEDIN

Iran executed up to 20 Kurdish Islamists suspected of attacks on security forces, drawing condemnation from rights groups which said the convictions may have been based on forced confessions.

State news agency IRNA said members of the Tawhid and Jihad group were executed on Tuesday, but did not give a figure. Rights groups said between 10 and 20 people were killed.

They were convicted of killing two Sunni Muslim clerics, several police and wildlife guards, abducting a number of people and carrying out armed robbery and bombings in Western Iran, IRNA said.

Iranian state television broadcast what it said were the confessions of some members of the Sunni Muslim group, in which they said they targeted both Shi'ite and Sunni clerics whose ideologies they regarded as heresy.

Iran's seven million Kurds make up around 10 percent of the population. Most live in Kurdistan and other northwestern provinces on the border with Iraq. Many Kurds seek greater rights for their region.

The area has seen increased clashes between Kurdish militants and government security forces in recent months.

Iran's Intelligence Ministry said in a statement carried by IRNA that more than 100 members of the Tawhid and Jihad "terrorist" group had been identified, many of whom had been arrested or killed in clashes since 2011.

The International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran, an independent organisation based in New York, said 20 prisoners had been hanged. It said Iran's Supreme Court had rejected the appeal of one of the convicts, Shahram Ahmadi, against his death sentence despite assertions his confession was made under torture.

Human Rights Watch condemned Iran for what it said was the "mass execution of at least 10 prisoners". Sarah Leah Whitson, HRW's Middle East and North Africa director, said Iran had executed at least 230 people in 2016.

Iran is one of the world's top executioners, international rights groups say. Amnesty International said Iran executed at least 977 people in 2015, compared to 320 executions inPakistan and at least 158 in Saudi Arabia.

Iran rejects international criticism of its rights record as politically motivated.

Iran's judiciary said the latest cases had been under deliberation for more than six years to make sure all aspects were investigated and the rights of the accused protected.

I was trying to find some sources about your claim, about the Shia Cleric, that he bombed or killed people, kidnapped them or anything similar to the people that Iran just executed. But nah. You are basically saying "The Saudis hanged a Shia cleric for demonstrating and protesting against their discriminatory policies, and that is ok".
And check your sources, "During the 2011–12 Saudi Arabian protests, al-Nimr called for protestors to resist police bullets using "the roar of the word" rather than violence".
Oh also,
Amnesty viewed Al-Nimr's speeches and sermons as representing the right to free speech and that al-Nimr did not incite violence in these. Amnesty stated that witnesses whose testimonies were used during the trial did not testify in court and that al-Nimr's lawyer was not given a fair possibility to defend him."

If you are saying that people who do this,
(the cleric which i think you are talking about)

And people doing this
Are to be treated the same, then my friend, I'm not trying to be rude...but i suggest you seek help.

Oh, and you are writing about propaganda said of Iran which isn't even true. I also suggest you go visit Iran and visit one of the Sunni Masjid that are there instead of reading stuff on anti-Iranian, anti-shia websites. I believe there are over 10,000 Sunni mosques in Iran, and a little over 40,000 Shia mosques. Which is a pretty big number considering that only 5-10% of Iranians are Sunni.

a common reaction from terrorist lovers.
These Wahhabi terrorists will join their grand father Abu-Sufyan and Ibn-Taymiyyah in eternal hell.

Are you Allah? Or are you a prophet ? Abu Sufyan was pardoned by Prophet Mohammad. Abu Sufyan and his son Participated in the Jihad to spread Islam . These actions give them more credence and place in Jannah than your deeds would ever give you the chance to go to Jannah. Even Ikramah Ibn e Abu Jahl has a greater chance of going into Jannah due to his status of Shaheed than you sectarian minded shia

That's utterly shameful and disgusting that you are questioning the stature of a person who was pardoned by Prophet which indirectly means pardoned by Allah. Who participated in the Jihad with Prophet and In the era of Rightly guided caliphs against Kuffar and mushrikeen. Achieve all these things, become a Mujhaid, raise your stature higher than Abu Sufyan than question his deeds. Until then Adios
