Iran discovers 6 billion barrels of new oil reserves

TEHRAN, July 4 (MNA) – Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi has announced that oil reserves of up to 6 billion barrels have been discovered in southwest Iran.
The reserves are located around the Yadavaran oilfield in Khuzestan province, Qasemi said.

“With this new discovery the volume of retrievable oil reserves in the country increased 5 to 6 billion barrels,” Shana news agency quoted Qasemi as saying.

It had previously been reported that Iran’s recoverable oil and natural gas reserves stood at 154.8 billion barrels and 33.1 trillion cubic meters, respectively.

With the new oil discovery Iran’s oil reserves stand at about 160 billion barrels.

The country’s oil and natural gas reserves will last up to 80 years and 150 years respectively, if the current production and export levels remain steady.

Qasemi went on to say that output at the Yadavaran oilfield is currently about 20,000 barrels per day, which will be increased to 200,000 barrels per day in the future.

On March 3, oil official Mahmoud Mohaddes announced that a large oilfield, which holds huge amounts of high-quality crude, had been discovered in southwestern Khuzestan province.

It's not about the oil itself. It's about how the oil is being traded (whether it's being traded with or w/out the US currency), who is drilling the oil (American and Euro companies versus Eastern companies) and most importantly how much risk a certain entity possesses to shipping routes. Also, having your companies present in an oil producing nation as well as having influence on the nation's govt means you can control the flow of oil, thus making sure the oil markets are stabalized.

Iran Discovers Huge Iron Reserves in Central Desert

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran has discovered huge reserves of high-quality Iron ore in the country's Central Lut desert, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced on Wednesday.


Addressing the inauguration ceremony of a sponge iron production complex in the Central province of Isfahan today, Ahmadinejad said that Iron reserves in the Lut desert have the purity level of 95%.

As regards the details of the newly discovered reserves, the Iranian president stated, "Just in one case of these mineral discoveries, 50 billion tons of iron reserves have recently been discovered."

Iran ranks third in Asia and 11th in the world in terms of iron reserves.

Iran is among the 15 major mineral-rich countries and exports its industrial and mineral products to 159 countries, including Iraq, China, the United Arab Emirates, India and Afghanistan.

You don't know what you're talking about, chief. The U.S. gets about 2% of its oil from Iraq, and we PAY for it. I WISH we would steal some if we're getting accused of it. But I know, it SOUNDS COOL to say the U.S. steals oil even though it's B.S.

We don't import gasoline since 2009, not only we don't import it, we have exported gasoline to Egypt and Iraq as well. Maybe only Venezuela has helped us, and for that reason you wanted to punish their oil industry that Chavez showed you the middle finger and they cut their ties with you for interference in their affairs.

Iran relies on Indian and Chinese refineries for that.

Iran relies on nothing related to energy on Indians. Indians rely on Iran for energy. India must meet her own demands first I think.
The only humors that Iran is importing gasoline is due to the Americans that claim Venezuela is exporting gasoline to Iran. Since 2009, the house of legislation passed a bill to punish any state that sells gasoline to Iran. I doubt any state, except Venezuela, had ignored the US bill. And the reason that I accept Venezuela is because the USA and Venezuela cut their ties over Iran-Venezuela ties. So it's very probable that Venezuela helped Iran to import gasoline. Moreover, Venezuela is a major oil and chemicals producing nation, unlike India.
