The thing with Iran is that we really did manage our country well back in the shah days, but because he refused to bend over, they had him replaced with the mullahs who they thought they could manage better, but then the mullahs showed them the finger too. I agree with you. India never did anything bad to Iran. If Pakistan can have good relations with KSA and even USA itself, why cant Iran have good relations with India?

Iran Saudis or Israel?

All are equally helping India.

Iran helps India when we want to launch an attack or if we want to send a panic to Pakistan's Armed forces. They do some shelling to confuse & distract the focus of Pak forces. They also help us in our intelligence & spying activities. Chabahar is a known fact apart from Oil imports. Pakistan will never dare to attack Iran, whatever pressure or funds they get from Arabs, because India will join in.

When the Islamic Arabs invaded Persia, the local population which was unwilling to convert to Islam were persecuted. There are large no. of Indians employed in Saudi Arabia. The 3rd highest remittances come from Saudi Arabia. Despite giving billions of dollars in aid and employing millions of Pakistanis, the Saudis have never bestowed their highest civilian honor on a Pakistani leader.

India buys 10% of the world’s oil. This is the biggest advantage India has. We play the oil card based on their support to our policies. We keep a hedge between Saudi & Iran in the Middle East. Iraq is also one of our major suppliers now. And we have a big queue of countries begging us to import from them be it Russia, US, Nigeria, United Arab Emirates, Venezuela, Kuwait, Qatar, Malaysia, Angola, Mexico, Brazil, Egypt, etc

In 2012 Saudi Arabia arrested and handed over Syed Zabiuddin Ansari, an Indian citizen who joined the Pakistan-based Lashkar e Taiba and was the voice guiding the Lashkar terrorists when they attacked India’s financial capital Mumbai in 2008 and killed 166 people and injured over 600. In earlier years Saudi Arabia would have simply returned Ansari to Pakistan but this time it chose to send him back to India.

With Israel, they want the world support for them to survive in the hostile Muslim surrounded neighborhood. So they always came forward to support India, even without we asking. Russia used to exploit our dependence on them for weapons & dictate us terms after they helped us in the 1971 war. We gave them billions of dollars for decades in many unfair arms agreements. It was ok they exploited us, but blackmailing & dictating was not acceptable, so where Russia refused to provide some sensitive weapons or technologies, we started hedging with Israel, when good offers came by & more importantly when we needed most. Now Russia is bowing down to India’s economic might, which used to be the other way around.

So yes Israel, gave us best deals to the envy of Russians, which we couldn’t refuse & it slowly started a terms war. Now many countries are queuing up for arms deals with better terms & deals for India. So again the Israel hedge not only brought us closer, it paid off & more importantly made us break away from Russian dependence. Israel needs India, because it’s a small country & has many threats including Pakistan, who keeps time & again threatening them. Israel's economy & forex reserves has sky rocketed in the past decade due to India’s shift. And we are happy for it.

But the important policy we follow is to respect each partner independently, keeping it’s enemy out of their interest collision. And we very carefully take care of each other’s sensitivities. And we have become a neutral trustworthy mediator between these conflicting countries when things get heated up, be it Russia & America, Iran & Israel, Iran & America, Saudi & Iran. And if there is a war between any of these countries, India will never be part of neither countries. This is where we have a strong foot hold in all these relations.
