This is getting more and more interesting. Points to consider...
1. The seized Indian ship was owned by the Govt. of India and was not a private ship. Govt. ships are sticklers for rules and regulations and it is impossible for them to release oil into the ocean. Such acts are done by private owners to save a few bucks. Govt. owned ship are not worried about profitability and will do no such thing.
2. The ship itself was empty and was heading out to port to get filled when the reported oil lead was observed. The Logs show that it was empty so there is no way it could have released that oil into the sea.
3. The ship was a new ship and poor maintenance cannot be a issue. The ship was built
9 years ago. The average age of Oil Tankers is
30 Years. It was not a old damaged ship to leak oil.
4. The ship was not examined by any Neutral body before Iran demanded a million $ as compensation.
It is clear from the above points that this seizure of the ship is a political act and has got nothing to do with 'environmental factors'. The real reason however continues to remain a mystery. This promises to be a interesting case.
Iran seems to be experts in turning friends into enemies
