How is this good news? No Iran can't do everything it wants. Education is a human right and every male and female must have the right to education. The mullahs are the worst thing that ever happened to Iran in the past 2500 years. I compare it to the mongol invasion in all honesty. Why everybody is upset with any news from Iran. They are free to do anything.....I guess Iran do whatever is better for the country. Looks like a great news to me and is against the seculars......

afraid it aint. That's the mentality of a fundie. Now you can understand our mullahs a bit better.well...that better be in sarcasm....eh
If you could speak Persian, you'd be shocked about how we speak about this religion within our own circles. So you won't upset anyone but the fundies.i was going to say something but i thought it might offend 'religious' sentiments.

I'm not seeing anything yet about this on Iranian opposition sites.

All i heard is that Mullahs want to stop gender mix in universities, but they can't do because they don't have enough girls colleges and universities.
May be they want more men in the workforce.
I see it other way..most of the courses mentioned comes in the science & engineering sector like oil and mining. In majority of the countries the majority of the graduates from engineering courses are males. So they never felt the need to have a male only rule while Iran seems to be an exception. The jobs in oil & mining industry is very hard and the work place very harsh..so companies usually prefer males for the job. As they couldn't find enough males, the Govt may have resorted to this quota or whatever its called.workforce ? it seems the courses under ban (allegedly) are those which would entail contact with other people.disturbing if true.

english translation and literature then, and computer science ?
i dont believe its so simplistic.again it is unthinkable to restrict admits based on gender.
