Why not Iran interested in JF-17?

JF-17 not offered to Iran because of US Iran relations?

What was the actual reason since as per my understanding JF-17 would be the best fighter jet for Iran.

KSA, Iran, Azerbaijan, Nigeria are interested in that cheap, capable and beautiful aircraft. There are some politics you know

Congratulations to my Muslim brithers in PAK. The first Muslim country developing such a valuable aircraft.

. .

Even if Iran had no sanctions, we did not seek this aircraft. Reason is because it is a small single-engine fighter, and Iran has a very large area (nearly twice the size of Pakistan) so we need a longer range fighter.

Furthermore, Iran's regional opponents are Saudi (and their stooges), Israel and USA, who have F-15, F/A-18 and F-16 in varying numbers. I don't think many Pakistani members here, though they for sure are patriotic, are going to claim the JF-17 is superior to the F-15. Therefore, Iran seeks a higher capability aircraft like the Su-30 to counter the higher capability aircraft used by its enemies. The Su-30 also has a very long range (very suited for Iran), multi role capability and good weapons suite.

For sure the JF-17 is better than most aircraft currently in Iran's inventory (IMHO with the exception of the F-14) but Iran seeks an aircraft of higher capability. Just being better than the F-5 or F-4 is not enough, it needs to be on par with or better than the F-15.

Funny.

Nice joke even 313 is not a prototype Mullah regime wants to show off the things which Iran is not capable to build.

With air to air refueling capability JF-17 could prove very useful further your logic of big area is not good what about F-16 and area of USA.

Because may be Pakistan is not interested as this JF-17 may gets used against us...

I mean...We do not enjoy good relations with Iran, even political ones so how the **** we can go to defense trade?

It will be well good and enough even if we achieve stable relations with Iran, let alone defense trade...

Iranians also make good weapons...especially missiles...Am I wrong?

Is there any missile of Iran capable to hit Israel?

Many but have doubt over accuracy.

No, Iran sees Pakistan as a brother but sometimes got frustrated over Jundullah issue.

I do have many reservations with Iran as a Pakistani but I do admire that Iranians are quite professional in their approach...Their young minds are talented and hardworking....Despite sanctions they did quite well...

I wish good luck to them...

Pakistan has been frustrated with Iran since Kulbhusan Jhadev got arrested and handing over Chabahar port to India....

Already sold to Nigeria (also bought SM) and Myanmar.

P.S: Block II (one in production is around 35 million USD)

F-15 tomcats is past their age now.. But it does offer bigger payload and range than JF (which can be extended with IFR)

Thanks to war in afghanistan and our proximity and our own mistakes we are circuled by problems..

313 is a mockup... the rest F-5 clones.

When Iran wasnt under sanctions JF wasnt in operational service either... a bigger hurdle here is politics not capabilities...

There was a time when Pak and Iran were even considering JV on Tanks and companies like Iran Khodro? and Gandhara/Naya Daur Pak were helping eachother produce Jeeps for militaries.....

Than after Iranian revolution and Paks closeness to US soured the relations.

However its good to see relations improving..
