Four Saudi children from Al-Qatif governorate in Saudi Arabia died due to chemical poisoning in one of the hotels of the Iranian city of Mash’had while 18 others have been reported to be in a critical condition.

A source close to the family said the death cases were due to the leakage of a chemical substance into the room where the four children were staying. The chemical substance came through the central air-conditioning ducts.

The source said the family travelled to Mash’had last Friday to spend vacation. The poisoning occurred 48 hours after their arrival in Mash’had. The children who died are Haidar Ali Qassim, infant Hussein Ali Awwami, Hassan Abulghani Al-Fakhr and a girl Deemah Abdulghani Al-Fakhr. The source confirmed that the father of two of the dead children Abdulghani Al-Fakhr, his wife and son Muhammad are in the Intensive Care Unit.

Meanwhile, Abdullah Hamrani, acting Saudi consul general in Iran, said the consulate is in contact with the Iranian authorities to get the details of the incident. He said the consulate has opened a hot line with the hospital so as to communicate with the relatives of the patients to check on their health.

Meantime, the Iranian security authorities have closed down the hotel temporarily.

This was first published by the Saudi Gazette.

Indeed sad news but Here some sources claim food poisoning and there was talk. About 20 victim and this 4 died because they were younger and their body could not fight it .
By the way I wonder what sort of chemical could leak inside the ventilation system that was poisonous and affect only one room .

Those stories are nonsense. They have used illegal poisons used for killing insects and vermin. The poison vaporizes after a while, killing all vermin around, and those idiots have used it in a public place. It's against the law to use these strong poisons anywhere near humans.

Might be Hydrogen Cyanide, its highly toxic and can cause death within minutes just by breathing it, it was used as a biocide in closed rooms a century ago in Europe but was forbidden long time ago as such for obvious reasons.
Very stupid mistake if thats the case since its obviously very dangerous, not to mention that there are far better alternatives today.

Hydrogen cyanide is more lethal, I don't think that's the one used. There are some poisons used in places with too much vermin (obviously without human presence), they use them on the place, and go in days later when the effect of the poison is gone. I don't know what that idiot has been thinking. Maybe an illiterate serviceman who has had no idea what he is doing, still they should jail the shit out of hotel manager.

Its all about dosage, i already breathed a small amout of it once and nothing happened, still very dangerous and highly toxic.

Anyways whatever it was it must be a amateurs work because a trained person would know how to handle it, those who are responsible should be punished.

انا لله وانا اليه راجعون

Completely unacceptable that such a thing can happen and worst of all we are talking about innocent children.

The chemical substance (pesticide) must have come through the central air-conditioning ducts.

For sure the pesticides were unauthorized. Who in their sane mind would use such a unauthorized pesticide in a commercial hotel where guests are staying?

I wonder what kind of pesticide it was? Chemicals such as heptachlor, dieldrin, DDT, endrin, chlordane, toxaphene etc. are banned in most countries of the world.

It's impossible to know what pesticide it was but I somehow doubt that it was hydrogen cyanide.

Anyway the responsible ones for this crime should be arrested and punished for this irresponsible crime.

I just thought it might be possible since it seems to be a amateurish work and the substance its very cheap and easy to get, as well as easily produced.

But i might be wrong though since you imadiately notice the substance, its leaves a strange bitter taste in your throat once you inhale it.
