Contact center is about Apple's request to receive tax exemptions and customs in exchange for the transfer of production to the state. "The Ministry of Finance will examine the requests," the source said. "Many potential Apple seeks incentives". Another source, who works closely with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said log in seeking a tax exemption on the import of equipment and components for 15 years, and the government intends to reach an agreement with Apple.
Talks on the subject began towards the end of 2016. Apple currently holds a share of less than 5% of the smartphone market in India. In 2017 the future of the Indian smartphone market overtake the US market in size, and Apple hopes that the opening of the country's production facilities will help her ride the wave of growth and become a significant player in the domestic market.
Apple said in response to the Wall Street Journal ":" We appreciate the constructive and open dialogue we had with the Indian government on expanding our local operations. We have worked hard to develop our activities in India ".
Talks are part of a much larger Apple to increase its sales in India. In May 2016 he visited the CEO, Tim Cook, in order to mobilize the good will of the Narendra Modi administration, and took advantage of the visit to announce a large-scale investments in the local economy, in the form of accelerating application developers and R & D center.
Efforts were not successful in the first stage, and shortly after he rejected US government Cook to Apple's request for exemption regulations require foreign retailers to sell at least 30% of local produce in their shops. However, after a few days before the visit of Cook denied Apple's request to allow her to sell the country refurbished iPhones. However, in June the company recorded a significant achievement after the Indian government decided to exempt companies like Apple fixes 30% for three years.

Today, most of the production and assembly of Apple devices is done Foxconn factories in China. However, companies like Samsung and Sioaomi smartphones already make up India aimed at the local market.
