Invest in Khyber Pakhunkhuwa, KP Govt gives first ever industrial policy !

. . .
25% discount on Electricity is nice... should reduce some taxes for some years to attract the companies

hope to see some investment in KPK after this policy

Good. It would be good if KPK can take advantage of it's close proximity to natural resources....whether minerals or water....develop hydro power and feed that to the industry. Make better roads, better border crossings and you'll see a well developed province......better province visible, more votes.

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Pervez Khattak has announced to grant 5 percent concession on mark up to new loans for setting up industries in KPK.

He directed the relevant authorities to make three major rebates and certain other incentives part of the provincial industrial policy. The major attractions for industrial investment, he pointed out, must be included rebate on the mark up rate, electricity tariff and industrial transportation charges.

Presiding over a high level meeting at the CM Secretariat today, the CM disclosed that all companies interested in establishment of oil refineries in southern districts of the province had been directed to first approach the federal government for acquiring the oil quota under the prescribed procedures.

He, however, made it clear that the present KPK government has waived off the condition of NOC for establishing all kinds of industries including sugar mills and oil refineries.

The meeting was held to discuss the drafts of new industrial policy and early bird investment policy which mainly aimed at “building prosperous KPK through sustainable and balanced industrial development thereby creating large employment opportunities and fiscal space for human and infrastructure development and to overcome problems of low investment, poor productivity and degrading physical and social infrastructure”, the policy document contained.

The meeting was told that under the present KP government initiatives for economic revival of the province and creation of large scale employment opportunities through sustainable industrial growth, certain major target have been achieved which included strengthening of TEVTA, establishment of BOIT, replacement of the role of Sarhad Development Authority by newly formed EZDMC and formulation of first draft of new industrial policy.

The participants were informed that the strategy for industrial growth under the proposed policy envisages development of industrial infrastructure, promotion of labor intensive industries, availability of funds / credits for industrial investment, skill development for both local and foreign job markets, development of specific sectors like gems, marble, granite, hydro power, cement, silica, building materials, phosphates, coal etc., trade promotion, exploitation of CPEC potential and opportunities, development of dry ports and border trade terminals, development of renewable energy, establishment of special economic zones, improving environment compliance, revival of closed and sick industries and provision of logistic parks etc.

Discussing the recommendations presented under the industrial and early investment policy, the Khattak stressed the need for arranging incentives first for a viable industrial growth and directed the concerned authorities to approach the major commercial banks and development finance institutions for obtaining at least 100 billion rupees financing for industrial investments.

correction : PTI govt gives its first industrial policy.
Industrialisation in KP began way back, no way this can be the "first policy".

.
Actions speak louder than words.

Goodluck....

.
KP govt must have a revenue generating stream in the province. The flight of capital from the province is another issue.
KP govt must also have a stock exchange in the province.

.
Lolz. KPK can never become an industrialized economy. No sane industrialist would invest in such a place.

Only PTI fools think that industries can be set up at any random place. A factory can't just be established in the middle of no where. There are no skilled labor, financial services, raw materials, supply chains in this province.

By the way, most industrialists are punjabis or muhajirs. Does pencil khattak expect Arif Habib, JS, Dawood group, Nishat group etc. to set up manifacturing plants in KPK/FATA.:p:

PTI should focus on cottage indus

KP govt must also have a stock exchange in the province.
You gotta be kidding me

.
That is the job of PTI and KPK Govt., That is where PTI should invest energy and become successful, rather than worrying about demolishing Federal govt or win over Punjab. PTI must first win over KPK, take care of those ppl and make it a model developed province.

Welldone KPK govt of PTI for its first ever industrial policy, making Pakistan better overall, but now make sure it gets implemented too.

M sorry but please don't talk dumb here you are just trolling here... KPK Gov is inviting Foreign companies to invest in KPK to set up Industry there Jewelry furniture etc... that will help locals and Pakistan that is exporting raw materials to other nations will exports finished stuff and that's gonna increase our Exports and Economy

no country came up with skilled labors people can be taught to be skilled... raw material is there gems and jewels in the mountains + Marble ... Wood you can get from forests etc... Building a road network is easy many roads are being under construction For example Roads under CPEC and Swat Motorway and some other road by provincial gov if KPK gov is inviting them they sure have everything running in their mind for what are the need of foreign companies for investment i.e road infrastructure Electricity Raw material etc

if a Province get some industry Pakistan will Progress not just KPK rather then doing brain farts keep politics aside or such thing which can help Pakistan grow.... If KPK and Balochistan didn't had any industry in the past doesn't mean one should not build one....

Who's Muhajir in Pakistan are you talking about Sindhies here cause minimum age of guy that came from India at the age of 1 would be now of 68 years his children that born here would be known as Pakistani not Muhajir...

People aren't stupid anymore. They won't take a dictator, a Zardari OR an IK who can't justify his existence. He has to show something as the biggest question coming up for him, by the people is "what did you do for us?". And I don't think he's got an answer outside of the "sit-ins", the harassment, the threats and being verbally abusive and violent in case. That's not progress and doesn't get you votes!!! That won't even get you a candy at your fan store if you went there to convince them to give you a loan. Progress gets votes. Sensational media campaign go ONLY so far!!!!!

The amount of embarrassment he's suffered within the past year and a half is tremendous. And now, the military had to come in and tell him to get off of the high horse and let the system continue, and to focus on the KPK. The result is right here.

Good work by the KPK government in FINALLY starting to actually think about real work and associated planning. The KPK government needs to provide improvement to her residents or no votes next time.
