Internet start-ups thrive in China while India lags: experts

Forget a reply he will never open a thread which distantly related to internet or freedom thing.

lets see :)
i am pretty sure Chinese will still be copying other's work like they have been doing until now :)

Just like Japan copied western technology, and we all know how badly Japan turned out.........oh right........

Having a false sense of superiority is bad enough, but to have it when you are from a country that lags behind is just hilarious to me.

And a Pakisani national thinks that Japan turned out badly? :yahoo:Dont you think that while critisizing us you are making contradiction/Joke of urself

when you compare internet users in both countries you can see why this happens....we will be there by 2020 :P

Bro, ur point is right to an extent.

1. Its correct that china have 5 times more internet users then India and that propels the growth of the start ups.

2. The real thing is censorship and access denied.

Take example:

a.) In India if anybody wants to build a social networking site it have to compete with the global leaders with hufe financial, technical strength and experienced companies like Facebook, Orkut etc.

b.) In china their govt. simply ban the Facebook or Orkut. Then a chinese internet company most probably govt. compnmay will just copy the Facebook or Orkut and CHINESE USERS HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE OTHER THEN TO USE IT.

You can't call it a achievement or something to feel good or boast about. :fie::tdown:

^^^ also chinese have to use sites made for their language, since they don't know any other language.

Actually, he's not wrong, you know.

But I empathise with you. I know you cannot say overly negative things about the party or else you never know who might show up at the door. :)

again the BS article, can it prove anything? apart from brainwashing less educated indians?

Have we not made it clear that we can visit FB and YT just by using Fang Qiang software?

wake up poor indians, you are living in a country that cant do anything about your own ruling class, whereas, in China in reality people discuss anything on internet, thats why you got things like '50' cent 'army (means who still believe in hard core communism), 'hanjian'(means traitor), 'fenqin' (means fanboys) and 'nucai'(means both western wannabe and CCP royalties) invented by each opinion groups to name others.

and the funny article you quoted doesnt prove anything but dramatize China's web regulations and culture, and to be frankly internet censorship exists everywhere and every government in world regulates virtual world.... but I guess, your high caste ruler made those less educated naive indians to believe that this most corrupted country actually has 'freedom' of info..lol, you might as well to sat NK has better social freedom than the U.K

Does it matter? By the end of the day, they have those huge and profit making companies and you don't because you play by the rule written by others that don't want you to advance too fast. ;)

Yes, it does matter.

Let me explain it to you.

chinese people don't have any let out or choice:

1. chinese can't marry girl of their choice as they are in shortage due to one child policy (chinese prefers boy over girl)

2. chinese can't watch **** because its banned.

3. chinese can't express their views, they don't have free speech because of dictatorship not a democracy.

4. chinese can't practice religion being a forced communist country.

5. chinese can't fire their leaders because they don't have democracy.

The list goes on.

The whole point is where the hell the general public i.e. chinese people let their feeling out?????????

Where will they vent their anger??????

Where they let the frustration out????

And it will lead to instability and china will disintegrate.

you are saying such bullshit
do you believe in what you say ?

there is a huge difference between freedom of expression in england and usa .. and china
so who is going to believe in what you say?

ohhhh facebook is so damned dangerous
ohhh google is so damned dangerous that there is huge need of filtering it

and don't be obsessed about Indians only to please the Pakistanis of the forum
just get some honesty please

you know why many like USA: freedom (business and speech), creativity
that's something your country is very far from, even you achieved great things

Oh, I thought Internet censorship Thrive in China :P , so can you use FB and Youtube in China yet ??
So what?
Youtube and Facebook is essential to yo but not to us.
We have many Chinese internet companies that provide better service, which cater solely to Chinese netizens.
The Chinese government cleverly use a political way to ban Youtube and Facebook to support our own
internet companies:yahoo:By now it seems very effective.:smokin:

I'm indeed curious to know why India doesn't have more Internet start ups. Though with only 100mln users now, in fact is not late at all to begin. With 1.2+bln people she is entitled an 'I' infrastructure for her people with Indian uniqueness.

By claiming easy accesses for infos is a lame excuse. By total relying on foreign companies like Google and Facebook simply is not a good Economic101. You create a huge capital outflows for the next 100 years if not more.

Which are successful Chinese startups which are popular outside China ?

Many Indians use Internet in Cyber cafe.
Many Indians use internet on their cell.
you are honest at this point, this trend is what i observed while in India...due to the sluggish internet infrastructure and poor income, most india family cant afford to buy a computer and interent (even India internet fee is like 1/20th of China's) so they have to use at public are like bars and cafe.

Baidu is frequent use by Chinese language students around the world. Alibaba is being use by 100s mlns shoppers outside China. Even Iranian government complained when Alibaba was shut for a few days. Sina Weibo is read world wide by foreigners. To name a few.

There are huge Chinese diaspora communities that use Chinese movie sites and others sites to keep in touch with the mother land and the culture. I, among many, use Chinese sites every day.
