My friend, UNCLOS Article 287 gives the member states the option to accept or reject international arbitration; this is inherent in the law itself.

So, China does even not act outside the law, let alone against it. Not to say that it would be a problem if China in fact simply ignored any verdict.

As understand from Philippine's case, it is not even about the 9-dashed line. It is mostly about the status of the reefs and rocks -- whether they would be entitled to their own territorial waters or not. The 9-dah line is pure sovereignty issue, which is outside the purview of the UNCLOS.
