A very dear colleague asked me about our failures---regarding building and maintaining relationships with a certain country---and this was my reply

Someone must be put in a position to tell them of their follies---a teacher---a trainer---a well wisher. And they must listen---understand---agree that a change is much needed---and implement the things that need to change.

You know---I have written directly and indirectly about the change in thinking and approach on this website for many a years---basing it on the principal that ( a mind is like a parachute----in order for it to work---you have to open it---) .

A change starts with changing simple perceptions and beliefs---understanding and accepting the failures of the past as their own mistakes----stop placing the blame on others---start accepting it as my failure---start understanding the need to change---then bring about a change in perception---belief--- communication in a smooth and systematic manner---.

But this is a long and tedious process---you have to overcome too many a hurdles---from personal likes and dislikes---egos---ignorance--- arrogance---and just simply ' I don't give a fck attitude---which says---' I believe in what I have believed in and that is how it is going to stay '.

So---how are you going to address this issue---slowly by a simple step---crawl---baby steps---walk---run---and also with a brute push.

But to do all this---there has to be a need and a desire to change---. There has to be an " internal fire "---that burns you from inside and makes you ask---" why am I committing the same mistakes over and over---why is my relationship with my greatest ally falls on its face after every 10 years---why am I seeing the same old problems come back to haunt me over and over---".

In the end it is all about " that " moment of reckoning where you accept your folly and loss of direction and you seek for a change ".

But you have to remember---Pakistan is an ORAL SOCIETY---they will talk all day about the change---and by late evening---they would have forgotten about it---.

Pakistanis love to talk BIG---it is a part of their psyche---they have a very difficult time resolving the issues---.
