Installing CCTV cameras ‘un-Islamic’: Darul Uloom

MUZAFFARNAGAR: In another controversial edict, Darul Uloom Deoband said that it is un-Islamic to install CCTV cameras.
In response to a query made by a Maharashtra-based Muslim if it was okay to install CCTV cameras in a shop or a place where there is movement of a lot of people, a three-cleric panel of the fatwa department of the world-renowned Islamic seminary, said, “There are many other ways to ensure safety of a commercial establishment or a home. In Shariat, it is un-Islamic to shoot a picture. Consequently, even the CCTV is un-Islamic.”

The edict came in response to a question asked by Abdulla Majid, a businessman from Maharashtra.

They confuse the prohibition of images of idols/gods and religious icons (for worship purposes) with images of people for identification purposes.

They don't have a PHd in theology before they become scholars but by spending a year or 3 with some "scholar" who in turn learnt the same way.

But are Pakistanis not humans and don't they have rights of privacy as you call them. Pakistan is not the only country suffering from crime and/or terrorism. In fact many countries are. Not just crime but traffic accidents can also be recorded. Your argument is completely invalid so please refrain from trying to further post your point. Thank You!

You should ask your government These questions.

Pakistan passed cyber crime law recently too.

I am discussing a topic on India and with Indians.

Or do you have the alloo gosht Ummah chumma Syndrome with India?

I will chose not to reply anymore to this thread. Simply put CCTV does more good than harm and there fore should be legal. Thank You!
