To be precise, it will be an adaptation or an evolution of a particular design. And that is how precisely designs evolve in ship-building; whether warships or merchant ships. Even more so in the case of merchant ships, where a ship designed by a particular design bureau or firm of Naval Architects in one country can get built by a shipyard(s) in another country(ies). This sometimes the most technically optimum or economical way of working.
