According to Army Recognition:
"New tracked armoured vehicle launched at IDEAS 2008 by the Pakistani company Heavy Industries Taxila. This company has developed a brand new Multi Purpose Tracked Vehicle (MPTV) called RAAD. The main purpose of this vehicle is reconnaissance, surveillance, and Anti-Tank. The RAAD can be armed with a 50 caliber and Baktar Shikan mounts on top of the developed prototype. The platform is very versatile can be used in many tactical roles in addition to the original intended purpose. RAAD will now be handed over to the Pakistan Army for full fledged desert, high temperature and other firing/ non-firing test and trials before the platform is approved for induction into the ranks of the Army."
