Again, along with the stablisation of the forex reserves over the last 2 months, shows that BD economy is handling the current economic challenges quite well.

For comparison India is at 7%, Pakistan at 27% and Sri Lanka at 66%.

The BNP shills will not like it.

They want the country to burn so that they too can share in the graft.

They are jealous that AL is looting all the money without sharing with BNP 🤣🤣🤣

BD economically in the long run will be fine because of one simple reason, our indebtedness is very low.

However having said that I have to be honest I do not believe in the 9% inflation figures because of anecdotal evidence and the weird delay in releasing the figures that has not happened before.

Inflation is in double digits and is enormously hurting the working classes of BD. There is not much the govt can do. Just ride it out...new harvest is coming so that will ease things a bit.

So many people have been accusing the BD government of faking its statistics for years and they have all been proved wrong.

The data for overall inflation using the basking of goods and services that BD measures is correct, although it will be different between demographics in the population.

There are 422 items in the basket that BD uses to calculate inflation. Many of these products are imported and as such we are importing global inflation. Global inflation is 8.8% and just dont see how BD can keep it below double digit until the harvest comes in about a month. Fuel prices were raised massively, other imported items such as cooking oil, wheat etc has also seen double digit prices rises in the global market. I do not see any compensating downward pressure yet apart from import of luxury goods have been reduced.

Some levels of transparency is needed and they should publish the data to dispel the feeling that something at this moment is missing.

I do not think the data is fudged and I think they are broadly accurate. The delay in releasing the figure was a political decision and it does cast a shadow.

I would say the figures are delayed as they always are. Current inflation is double digit and will come through next month.

BAL is in a bind, they are tolerated on the basis of economic competency. If that goes then it ushers in political instability as they lack legitimacy.

What is happening in BD is part of wider global supply side issue. GoB has no control on it. They also can not really admit it due illegitimacy of their hold on power.

Let us hope the situation improves without too much issue on the ground. BD will go into election with a global recession and I do worry what the future may bring in the short run.

Last week rice, potato, veg oil, garlic per kilo price were hiked. Poors are removing egg from their daily consumption list. Now go tell them about our so called lowering inflation.

Why not compare globally..instead of cherrypicking a few countries here... Burma is your neighbour .but it's always missing from the "comparison pool"

Dude, Burma is not in S Asia and I just wanted to compare the ones in S Asia.

South Asia is an artifical region and not really any standard..
Afghanistan Maldives Bhutan and Nepal are also in South Asia ..South asia is only a geographic label. It doesn't demarcate the economies of the regions or anything.
Compare yourself with countries that fall in your profile if you want to genuinely make headway..

I have no idea where you are going with this.

Please explain what you mean by "countries that fall in your profile".

Hi, @UKBengali, when are you going to build a barrage like the one in Farakka? When you build one with your own engineering design and construction knowledge, come back and claim BD is superior.

BD remains at the lowest rung and here you come from time to time to claim a fake superiority.

Bhai , do these folks care about poor people? They don't! All they care for is their own dirty political agenda!

Thankfully nowadays most of people don't take them seriously, and don't believe anything from them or from their govt!
