Infantry Weapons and Equipment

How much would such a move cost? Surely quite a bit, not including the rifles themselves you would need to change the type of ammunition used across the board, meaning changes to logistical chains, infrastructure etc.

I don't see a switch to another caliber being a big problem, Pakistan Ordnance Factory already produces a wide variety of rounds we have great local infrastructure for handling small arms. The only problem is cost associated with this and with building complex weapon systems such as HK 416 for 500,000 soldiers would be monstrous. For now G3A3 is a good standoff against Insas.

broes mehmetçik1 ll be 7.62mm.in the last ssm meeting tender has gone to mke producer of mehmetçik1 rifles.but army wanted 7.62mm.so mke ll produce it 7.62 calibres.army claimed that 5.56mm is not effective against terorists.some terorists continued to fight even they ve been hitted by 5.56 calibres.also 5.56 calibres isnt good against modern army which is using bodyarmor such as usa.

Yes Karaislam Bro, That's correct move for our army but I think MKE will continue to produce some Mehmetcik-1, 5.56mm for Turkish spacial Forces. You know, Meh-1, 5.56 is a clone, copy of HK-416. Now Meh-1, 7.62mm will be similar size with HK-417. This picture is showing their differences clearly.

So Mehmetcik-II (7.76mm) will be smaller in size than HK-417? That'd be good.

ISN'T HK 417 LIKE A SNIPER???
AND I REALLY THINK PAKISTAN SHOULD LOOK IN TO IT

What about new kevlar helmets, body armour, new camo uniforms like the US and Western countries are useing. are their any plans for these. I know pakistan does manufacture some body armour and the helmets are based on the older US helmets. But are there modernisation plan you guys know of?
Thanks

ALL YOU GUYS NEED TO STOP PLAYING ALL THOSE COMPUTER GAMES...

As mentioned by one of you above, the M4 platform and its varients like the HK 416/ 417 are now rapidly headed towards obloletion. Turkish army is heavily influenced by the US army which is why they are designing a copy of the m4. I think it will just be an exact copy save the external furnisher.

You guys need to understand a few basic facts.

1. A specific design of gun (refered to as a platform) can be made into any caliber from 9mm to 7.62. The AK, AR, HK, FAL, SA platforms all are produced in 5.56, 7.62 nato and 7.62 russian as well.

2. Ofcourse the design of the gun is important but the calibre of the bullet and the design of the bullet is far far more important. True, that the 5.56 based M4 has failed in iraq and afghanistan but the new design 5.56 bullets are working very well. So, again its a matter of bullet design.

3. You guuys need to understand the difference between assualt rifles and battle rifles. AR and Ak are assualt weapons while the G3 is a battle rifle.

4. coming to Pakistans needs, Pakistan Army does not need any change in the rifle that we use. the G3 outperforms most rifles in the modern world. IT IS STRUCTURALLY MORE SOUND THAT THE AR OR AK PLATFORMS! the terrain of Pakistan dictates that we have a good strong battle rifle, we already have that... the G3. No need to replace it with some stupid pea shooter.

5. The M4 and Ak has been popularized by holly wood and all those compu games that we all play.

6. the US is in the search to adopt a totally new platform as the M4 platform is not very reliable. google SCAR and read on it first before picking up a weapon based on how cool it looks. have u guys even seen all these weapons? leave alone firing them?

7. The AK weapon Platform is much much better that the m4 platform. but the AK ammo is not very good. But improved varients have very good ballistics.

8. In my opinion, the rifle of choice in descending order will be G3, FAL, AK47, SIG, M4.

9. Calibre preference in my opinion are:
1.) 7.62 NATO,
2.) 7.62 Russian
3.) 5.56 MK262

First off I have never played any of these modern computer games, but I have put a lot of ammunition through various weapons. Some off your points I agree with but there are a few I don't, first off how is the AR series becoming obsolete?
Also how has the M4 failed in Afghanistan and Iraq? Yes there have been reliability issues with the rifle itself but the NATO standard 5.56 isn't as bad as publicised. It gained bad press against drugged up nuts in Somalia but in Iraq it has performed fine, in Afghanistan with the longer ranges at times it is lacking but generally it performs well enough.

The G3 is durable but isn't as accurate as people would think (according to members of the Turkish army), the FAL is more accurate.

Also the AK isn't all that accurate by design (compromises for durability etc), but it could be improved with better sights. The AK cartridge may be large but the round drops off sharply after a while.

5.56 round has been ineffective in Iraq and Afghanistan because it doesn't have enough kinetic energy to put down a target that's why it's been ineffective

here watch this

Maybe not kill them first shot but they certainly know about being hit, enough damage is done in one shot more often than not to take them out of the fight. Yes a one shot kill solution would be better but the 5.56 is good enough.

Broes, Aselsan has made a new attachment for the Aselsani made "Piton" Thermal scope, allowing the soldier to see the target without exposing themselves.

The new device is called Korsan (Pirate)...

Notice the soldier with new Turkish camo pls....

They probably meant it was not very accurate when being fired in full auto mode, due to the recoil. Most of our boys prefer firing in semi auto. It is just as accurate as the FAL.
