The video is talking about Chinese migrant workers who often worked in Indonesia using tourist visa. You are here talking about Indonesians of Chinese descent who do contribute to Indonesia as all good citizens do. That is not relevant.

Anyway, in the video you are looking at illegal workers who only benefit the companies they are working for that also happen to be companies from China contracted by the government of Indonesia to work on some infrastructure projects. I am sure that you agree that all should follow the rule of law in the host countries, right?

I simply don't believe that there are many 'illegal workers' from China in Indonesia. Most likely Indonesian police rounded up innocent tourists.

The reason is simple: how many illegal workers go from a richer country to a poorer country?

Do Americans illegally work in Mexico or Colombia?

Do French illegally work in Algeria or Burkina Faso?

Surprisingly quite many, most of them came from southern China. They are called seasonal “workers” who came as tourists on paper but were actually laborers. They might not know about that as well, it might be that all they know is that they will get money working abroad for 3 months and then go home. In this case, the chinese companies are to blame.

Anyway, did you even watch the video? Do you think a group of Chinese tourists by the hundreds would just visit some construction sites in the middle of nowhere just because? Cmon, you are not that naive right?

This table only shows the average, but for indonesia, the 'average' can not reflect the reality. Vast majority of the aboriginals live far below this already miserable 'average', their lives are no different from beggars, this is why they hate Chinese so much...

Well the richest in Indonesia live very comfortable live but it doesnt necessarily suggest that others dont live well. Civil servant Teacher salary in Jakarta start from 500 USD and if both husband and wife are teacher the family can get around 1000 USD per month. Not bad IMO. That is civil servant salary and highest salary in Indonesia is of course in private sector.
