Indonesian vice president meets with senior Chinese military official !

No, just saying Indonesia should not support China imperialism because it runs against the interests of Vietnam and others in the region.
do you personally believe to the slogan "peaceful rise with China"?
That is your opinion. Indonesian might not see things that way. And their first priority is to the interest of the people of Indonesia.

Yes, I believe in the "peaceful rise of China", because that is in the best interest of China.

.
No, don't get me wrong. I mean, Indonesia will be a neutral regional power (if you don't agree on this, but soon close to), to make East and Southeast Asia, especially the SCS more balanced. Even in the EU, different countries have different views on Russian sanctions, they all have their own deal with Russia, they don't want to lose it. There is too much uncertainty for their economy to lose an important trade partner. I think it's Indonesian their own decision to do the best for their own country, they don't need your suggestion.
I agree fully with you. I find Indonesia is too passive. They should do more to maintain peace and stability in the region.

Regional power means more than being big and sitting at the fence.

as Chinese, no wonder you believe to such slogan.
the newest creation of Ccp is Asia for Asians, with China as master, the rest as slave

Wait wait, if you Viet guys can spread propaganda about "how big and powerful" Vietnam is in here, why can't Indonesians? You guys are weirdos, thinking that this forum belongs to you and all

Maybe contrary to what you believe, what the Indonesian is doing is contributing to the peace and stability in the region?

Maybe they believe what you are asking them to do is NOT contributing to peace and stability of the region?

sitting idle at the fence huh? trust me, Indonesia has done a lot more at international stage (at least in ASEAN itself) since it was proclaimed free, than any other ASEAN countries combined. Funny it comes from you.

Anyway, there's a slight difference between "doing something" and "doing something for someone". We chose to do something, not to do something for someone. It means what we are going to do, should profit us first and if possible profit our partners. Diplomatic doesn't mean helping, diplomatic means saving our own ***.

So please tell me, what can Vietnam offer to Indonesia and the rest of ASEAN countries for standing up against China for you? Can Vietnam replace China as our Exportziel? No, Can Vietnam finance countries like Indonesia and Thailand to patrol the SCS for Vietnam? No, Can Vietnam back Indonesia and Thailand at international forums? No, Can Vietnam offer the necessary technologies to Indonesia and other ASEAN countries? No. So please, what do we get from taking the beatings for you? Your "thank you"? nope we don't need that.

By being neutral from both USA and China influence has already shown our political power, it is also a position that is not easy to be maintained. We rejected many USA and Japanese attempt to make us side with them against China, and we also try not to be so close with China either. This position is crucial to solve any future conflict in this region. If we sided into USA, China leadership will be cornered psychologically and politically, you know that a cornered tiger is more danger than a free one. Some time a war and some aggressive move taken by a leader / leadership happens just as a way a leader/ leadership try to satisfy themselves with such move from their current psychological burden (particularly if that leadership has military might to do any move). Russia and Ukraine matter can become a good example of that.

your logic sucks.

why should we offer anything to Indonesia for standing up against China?
why should we support you to control the SC Sea?
why should we back Indonesia at international forums?
etc..

for what reasons? the only thing we care of is how to advance Vietnam´s interests.

I understand Indonesia stance of being neutral. That is not necessarily bad.

as for China, I am afraid you know too little about the country and her people. we know them in and out. Chinese are smart and cunny people. Honestly speaking, Chinese play in a different league. The future of Asia belongs to them. In contrast, Indonesia is just a pawn.

NO, my father once served in the South Vietnamese Navy that had the best navy in Southeast Asia. We were US ally and hence are the loser of the war.

NO, I speak to you as Chinese as I know how Chinese think about Indonesia. You are a pawn. Don´t blame me. I just tell the truth.

that viet monkey kingdom has got nothing to offer to the modern world, yet ludicrously asking others not to look after their own interests...

stop insulting you moron.

if you don´t know I tell you: Dai Viet (the former name of Vietnam) had been long as the most advanced and modern in Southeast Asia. We had modern state administration, rule of laws and powerful army. When western visitors came to our capital Hanoi in the 18 century, they were impressed by the buildings and roads. In contrast, at that time Singapore and Jakarta were nothing more than marsh.

just by telling harsh truth and you are accusing me of insulting? :D

the reason your were 'most advanced' was because you copied everything from China as simple as that

btw, what can you offer to the modern world? i say modern world, not your ancient propaganda fantasy sketched by your vietcong

Best? In 60's and 70's? Lol, hardly. The south Viet navy had destroyer escorts which mainly designed to escort merchant ships, and destroyers built in 40's - 60's were not even like today's destroyers. The South Vietnamese Fregate ships were orignally plane tenders, which laters transferred to the Coast Guard before they were in service with the SVN, the SVN had no subs, had only a little number of Patrol boats. Your father served in the navy which consisted of ships that were not originally built as ships of the line.

The mighty Vietnamese navy wasn't even close to the Indonesian navy in the 60's and 70's.

Lol, Jakarta and Singapore didn't even exist on that time, you are comparing two things that exist in different times. On the contrary, Indonesian kingdoms had reached the capability to build wonders such as these long before 10th century.
