the attractions that you seek really depends on your liking. i'd personally recommend you to visit the Lake Toba (it's a Lake inside a Super Volcano, btw) in North Sumatra. from there, you can easily go to many places. if you like to enjoy a rural scenery of the Karo Ethnics, you can go to Berastagi

regarding foods, if you like spicy themed foods, your best bet is to visit north and west sumatra. additonally you can also visith makassar of the south sulawesi.

Beef Rendang (caramelized beef stew cooked very slowly)

those food and beverages were the most common that you can find in almost any places. there were too much foods around and i can't list them out here in one post. i'm pretty sure you can find your favorite dishes here.

If I know this information, maybe last month I paid a visit to Lake Toba.
As checked it takes only 55 minutes to fly to Kuala Namu Airport, Medan from KL
