FPI are a group of idiots.. they are just thugs disguised in religious mantle and they are small. In no way they are representation of majority view of muslim/native in Indonesia.

every single country on earth has its bigots... no one should make generalization based on few idiots.

.
Even those aware of 1998 massacre know that in unstable developing countries, ethnic riots can break out at any time and can target any group, not just Chinese.

Somehow I doubt that

.
lol that the simple thing i am trying to explain you ......unless until society is not tolerant or giving you space to develop you can't grow ,what ever be potential or talent you have

Indonesian society is the most tolerant in the world

I dunno if you want to discredit Indonesian Chinese by boosting the other Ethics in here. But I should tell you that we, Indonesian are just the same as other people in this world. There are good guys, bad guys, corruptors, criminal, gangster, humble people, humble people, idiot people, clever ones, etc. Ethic hatred and crash can happen every where. Even in India, China, and United State. So, it is not strange if it happen to our country too. But, the problem between Chinese Indonesian and the other ethics were because engineered by Soeharto; our second president; a corrupt dictator. But after he lost his power, the things became better. Now in today reformation era. We live together and don't have any problem. The only people who make the ethnicity and religion as problem just bad politicians who don't want to see a good politician work for our people.

His opinion is just one among many. Most Chinese don't have strong opinions of Indonesia. Even those aware of 1998 massacre know that in unstable developing countries, ethnic riots can break out at any time and can target any group, not just Chinese.

Anyway, it's quite obvious that Indonesia needs more Islam. After all, it's not a nation-state, based on any ethnic group. Instead, the state's foundation and legitimacy comes from Islam. If the Indo govt. is too secular, Islamists will become resentful and resort to even more radicalism. I think they need to be accommodated further and see more representation in government.

Islamist has twice trying to change our constitution and trying to make Indonistan of ASEAN, but the Nationalist always crush and purge all of them for good. Surely there will be no Indonesia as unitary state if Islamist gain the power at National level because Indonesia itself is too diverse and they want to impose strict sharia law in which so many ethnics and elements despise them. Fortunately almost all of Indonesian peoples still hold their belief for Pancasila as our ideology and we can get rid those pests twice.

lol...
nice joke..

ah i met one of Chinese beggar near China benteng today

. . . .
ahahahahhaha....muslims radicals/extremists at it again. why im i not surprised?:lol::lol::lol::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
It seems religion seems to be doing more harm than good to most muslims countries. Please grow up. when will these extremists learn how to accept/accomodate/respect and live peacefully with other religions/atheists?:disagree:

Pancasila
the official philosophical foundation of the Indonesian state. Pancasila consists of two old Javanese words (originally from Sanskrit), "pañca" meaning five, and "sīla" meaning principles. It comprises five principles held to be inseparable and interrelated:
  1. Believe in the one and only God, (in Indonesia, Ketuhanan Yang Maha Esa).
  2. Just and civilized humanity, (in Indonesian, Kemanusiaan Yang Adil dan Beradab).
  3. The unity of Indonesia, (in Indonesian, Persatuan Indonesia).
  4. Democracy guided by the inner wisdom in the unanimity arising out of deliberations amongst representatives (in Indonesian, Kerakyatan Yang Dipimpin oleh Hikmat Kebijaksanaan, Dalam Permusyawaratan dan Perwakilan)
  5. Social Justice for all of the people of Indonesia (in Indonesian, Keadilan Sosial bagi seluruh Rakyat Indonesia)
In 1945, facing the need to pull together the diverse archipelago, the future President Sukarno promulgated Pancasila as philosophical foundation of the Indonesian state (Indonesian: "Dasar Negara"). Sukarno's political philosophy was mainly a fusion of elements of socialism, nationalism and monotheism. This is reflected in a proposition of his version of Pancasila he presented on 1 June 1945, to the Investigating Committee for the Preparation of Independence (Badan Penyelidik Usaha Persiapan Kemerdekaan Indonesia, BPUPKI), in a speech known as "The Birth of the Pancasila".
  1. Kebangsaan Indonesia (Indonesian Nationality), an emphasis on Nationalism
  2. Internasionalisme (Internationalism), an emphasis on justice and humanity
  3. Musyawarah Mufakat (Deliberative Consensus), an emphasis on Representative democracy which holds no ethnic dominance but an equal vote for each member of the council
  4. Kesejahteraan Sosial (Social Welfare), influenced by the idea of the welfare state, an emphasis on populist Socialism
  5. KeTuhanan yang Berkebudayaan, an emphasis on monotheism and religiosity

After several BPUPKI meetings, the five principles (sila) proposed by Sukarno were rearranged. The fifth sila concerning religiosity was promoted to become the first sila. Internationalism, justice and humanity remain as parts of the second sila. The previously first sila about nationalism became the third sila about Indonesian unity. The third and fourth sila about democracy and social welfare become the fourth and fifth sila.

Pancasila was thus intended to help solve the conflicting priorities among Muslims, nationalists and Christians. The 1945 Constitution of Indonesia then set forth Pancasila as the embodiment of basic principles of an independent Indonesian state.
