Indonesia proposes broader use of renminbi in ASEAN

Indonesian choice is not a representative of other nations. With the rate Yuan devaluation is going it will be as useless as the Zimbabwean dollar. For now better use local to stabilize the after effects of China finanicial market. Or use US pegged or come up with ASEAN currency like EURO.

nope, it won't be as bad as Ethiopian Poundsterling or whatever. China will not just sit down and let their economy crumbles, same applies to any other countries.

see? that's why like i said before , ust forget about the ASEAN. they won't listen to others. Indonesia won't listen to Vietnam as well.

it'll took more time than it needs to be done. forget about ASEAN currency, there are some disputes around Malaysia with Philippines and Vietnam with Philippines. Indonesia always be the side to Mediate problems and conflicts between ASEAN countries, nevermind that no other ASEAN country bothered with our problems.

the ASEAN currencies is still too far of an idea. will there be ASEAN Language as well? or will the ASEAN be using Anglo-Saxon Language?

There are many other areas we can cooperate. It is not just economics.

Indonesia, China to cooperate more to combat drug trafficking
| Mon, August 24 2015, 11:49 AM

The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) has announced plans to boost cooperation with China’s National Narcotics Control Commission (NNCC) to combat drug trafficking in the region.

BNN head Anang Iskandar said recently that the cooperative efforts would aim to improve the policing of drugs coming out of the world's major drug producer, China, into Indonesia, which had become a hub for international drug distribution.

“China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and West Africa are all involved in international drug syndicates that the BNN has identified,” he said, as quoted by Antara news agency on Monday.

International drug dealers have targeted Indonesia mainly for the distribution of ecstasy pills and crystal methamphetamine, Anang added.

“One of the biggest producers [of crystal meth] is Guangzhou, China,” Anang said.

The NNCC reported that 13.7 tons of crystal meth had been produced in China in 2014 with 75 percent coming from Guangzhou. Apart from being distributed in China, the drug has also been distributed in other countries, including Indonesia. (ika)

Right.
Trading between China and ASEAN should not be affected by the USD currency variation..
Using RMB will make both side saving money for currency transaction and trading.

All ASEAN members currency are very weak except SG (& Brunei).
So the proposed plan might be good to push poor ASEAN to higher level.

Well, a currency and central bank could be done, but it would be silly without China/Korea/Japan. I guess it's some 20-30 years away, since the
