Indonesia, Malaysia seek special ASEAN meeting to discuss Myanmar crisis

Vietnam just blocked a resolution which if approved would condemn Myanmar in UNSC.

Bock in where ? UNSC ?? Vietnam doesnt have Veto power in UNSC. Indonesia as far as I know is still member of UNSC as well now.

From Thailand to Myanmar...

They seem to have a similar pattern.

Maybe it's part of their culture.

ASEAN should focus on the economy and development, to improve people living conditions together.

Not another idea.
Thailand fares much better than myanmar. Try putting both of them on same page is unfair.

Myanmar makes me think of Assad. What takes USA so long to create white-helmet 2.0?

USA sure want lackies in SE Asia to play the role of Saudi Qatar and Turkey against Myanmar? SE Asia did played against Vietnam in Cambodia.

Unfortunately USA wont get what it wants today.

No ASEAN member will support an insurrection in another member's country, not even to support a (formerly) legitimate government that was toppled by a coup etc... ASEAN will work with whoever is currently in power to try to minimize the damages, not against it... So don't ever expect to see ASEAN members supporting various armed groups or creating proxies to fight against this new Junta... as is currently happening in the middle east (Syria, Yemen, Libya, etc)... ASEAN was specifically created for that purpose.

ASEAN didn't condemn the coup (much less intervene) in Thailand, it won't do that in Myanmar either... Indonesia is no longer in the UNSC so can't block directly, but if we were still there we would've voted to block it as well... Vietnam blocking the resolution in the UNSC is actually representing the voice of ASEAN in this case, and not just of Vietnam alone.. ASEAN would at least want to give more time for diplomacy to sort things out with the new Junta first... To let outside powers meddle will be seen as a failure of ASEAN and could delegitimize ASEAN... Without ASEAN, it's much more likely we will splinter and become simple pawns in this new great power game... perhaps even be made to fight each other like what's happening in the middle east today...
