Indonesia needs to incresse Armed Forces all three

Indonesia is not switching to any side, indonesia only care of our interest which is stability in the area, and the current buildup of indonesian military is not meant to threaten anyone.

Indonesia ′in a bind′ over Beijing′s assertiveness in South China Sea | Asia | DW.DE | 21.04.2015

Indonesia neutral position to the SCS issue pretending that there is no conflict with China backfire on them this is what you get for acting passive aggressive. And is now looking for help from the US, Japan, Vietnam, Philippines and other SEA countries:rofl:

"Indonesian law enforcement have been sinking the ships of Thai and Vietnamese poachers, but they have refused to do that with Chinese ships, for fear of incurring Beijing's wrath"

This is a sign of weakness :tsk:
This is called smart :D

You don't provoke something you can't beat. And China never even claim natunas island which our warmonger here keep emphasizing. The warmonger are dumb to provoke the giant panda and they get a backlashes. Now they are trying to drag indonesia down to their level.

Beware, my indonesian friends.

Frankly I am tired of you VN members who keep saying TPP will kill China economy..
TPP will only make your people low cost labor. Nothing else.
While China has done a lot in high tech side. We can live well without TPP...
Don't be tired by friend. In fact, we shall continue to engage these delusionists to expose their agenda. :D

Indonesia needs to incresse Armed Forces all three
Precisely, those petty countries especially vietnam and Philippine has eyes in indonesian water. :D

You can live well without TPP ?? You can keep Using Ah Q ' spiritual victory' to make yourself happy again, but Indo general doesn't think CN can survive. That's why he has just switched his side and go against CN. :)

Lol buddy the only 'Ah Q' here is you, somehow you Vietnamese ultra-nationalist here believe to have somehow defeated China in some big way, always celebrating some kind of spiritual victory over China when the reality is MUCH MORE DIFFERENT.

The TPP deal is coming close now, CN economy will face with great risk of collapse soon. Things changed, everyone now want to jump out of the sinking boat, thats why Indo general decide to switch to the winning side with VN-US and go against CN :)

And I quote, "decide to switch to the winning side of VN-US" lol!! In what world is the Vietnam winning? Where is it winning? Your delusion is strong my friend.

Please next time you use 'Ah Q' as an insult, look in the mirror, because that is just what you are my ultra-nationalist Vietnamese friend.

Only an idiot who can't measure his opponent strength

Only an idiot who can't measure his opponent strength

It's not very n
Only an idiot who can't measure his opponent strength

True.. Has Vietnam made a superpower video yet?

I highly doubt Indonesia is afraid, despite what some European media is trying to portray. On the contrary, Indonesia and China have quite good relations and both want keep SCS water calms. Vietnam and Philippines inviting the USA into these domestic waters is troublesome to say the least. If Vietnam and Philippines want to offer themselves as the USA's 52nd and 53rd states then they are definitely threats to the neighborhood. Nothing wrong with China as the SCS's protector, as it is in China's best interest to see it prosper and everyone benefits. Indonesia understands this and sees their future potential so they have no reason to piss China off, unlike the Philippines and Vietnam.

actually what we want is Status Quo

Our relation with Indonesia is based on mutual respect, win-win cooperation, and equal partnership in all matter of territorial integrity, economic development, and trade. Let not forget that Indonesia is also one of the biggest destination (Top 5) for Chinese investment. These little Vietnamese always try to bring Indonesia into their conflict so they can score a brownie point from Uncle Sam. That is laughable. LOL

We need active balance of power in SEA or Asia in general. ASEAN need US to balance China, and need China to balance US. If this relation somehow create unhealty tension, then we can also bring Rusia, India, Australia, Japan and South Korea to cheer up the party.

Rhetoric aside, that's what really matters.

China Investment Group Seeks Land For $1.6b Steel Plant In Indonesia

  • Several high rise buildings under construction are seen along the Jakarta skyline on April 21.

JAKARTA, Indonesia – A Chinese private investment group says it hopes to invest $1.6 billion in a steel plant in Indonesia, part of unfolding plans for an industrial park that it hopes could attract up to $5 billion.

China Minsheng Investment Corp. Ltd., a fund formed last year with capital raised from companies with interests including real estate, said it plans to invest in the park and the plant as part of an unfolding infrastructure drive under President Joko Widodo.

Li Huaizhen, chief executive of CMI, declined to provide a timetable for investment, which he said was subject to acquiring land, a challenging process in Indonesia. The group announced plans for the $5 billion industrial park last month during Mr. Widodo’s trip to Beijing, where Indonesia signed tentative agreements for more than $60 billion in financing and direct investment from Chinese companies and state banks.

“I wish within this year,” Mr. Li said, “but that’s impossible.” But he was upbeat that CMI would get help from shareholders who already operate in Southeast Asia’s largest economy.

Mr. Li declined to say where the park, which will be designed to integrate upstream and downstream manufacturing, would be located but said the company is looking in several areas. He said that it could one day be home to a port, power generation facilities and coal and nickel plants.

Chinese follow-through in investment in Indonesia has been poor in the past – just 7% in the five years to 2014 — but Mr. Li said that meetings between Mr. Widodo and Chinese leaders would help push the Chinese state investments and leave CMI well-positioned to supply steel to various projects.

A spokesman for CMI said the potential $1.6 billion investment could be made with partners or on the company’s own.

The fund says it formed with about $8 billion from a group of privately owned Chinese companies and has already invested in land for property development in Shanghai, as well as in solar energy in Ningxia in northwest China. In February, it announced an overseas foray to develop a $1.5 billion commercial district in London.

The fund is led by Dong Wenbiao, former chairman of midsize bank China Minsheng Banking Corp.

For Indonesia, I am pretty sure they don't need any "Protector" in SCS, be that the US or China, it's of best interest for Indonesian to look over to the interest of Indonesia, and stay away from either China or US.

But the ground reality is, who Indonesia is going to trust when it come down to a battle of control over SCS? For Indonesia, US is 7,000 miles away, what they want does not affect what Indonesia in such great scale, but to Indonesia, China is just a few hundred miles away, everything Chinese do have a direct effect of their neighbour.

And from what we seen over the last 2 years, I don't think China is giving out a positive image to its neighbour.

It's very easy to keep US out of SCS, by keeping China out of SCS too.

For Indonesia, it's not about choosing side. We believe in free and active foreign policy. We initiated the Non Alignment Movement with India, burma, egypt, ghana and yugoslavia back in 1961. as long as the relations are beneficial for our national interest and also help strengthening regional peace and stability we will develop and persue this relation.

Bringing Usa, China and other regional power to the SEA is part of Indonesia's "dynamic equilibrium" Doctrin to stabilize this region, to bring peace and ensure stability.

Not possible, we need trade and money from both sides. Balance of power is the best, win-win for everyone
