China has realized this kind of problem since 1990, meanwhile US and Germany since earlier. Roads is very vital for our economy so with Ports and Airport and railway!!!

Ya, I hope both Trans Sumatra toll road and Trans Java toll road can be completed before Jokowi finish his final term. When I saw the picture of Trans Sumatra toll road that you posted in previous page, I can say the toll road is still in early phase. There are problem with financing as well that is still exist, so I hope Jokowi administration focus on this first and let other administration build new capital in Kalimantan.

Sumatra has already had so many population, so if the toll road can be finished as soon as possible there will be more multiplier effect that can be taken than building the new capital. It is because industrialization will likely to happen in Sumatra than Kalimantan. Better focus more on these two islands for the mean time while Kalimantan should be targeted to become another agricultural center after Java.

I can say the period of 2020 until 2030 is very vital and we are competing with the rest of ASEAN and also with China. Both Sumatra and Java should be developed during 2020-2024 so that hopefully we can get huge multiplier effect on those infrastructure during 2024-2030 into both islands where some of them would be the result of foreign direct investment.

New capital in Kalimantan is only about shifting the already finished government infrastructure in Jakarta. Not many multiplier effect can be taken from building that new capital. We are in a very competitive period at this time and the financial resources to build infrastructure of our economic back bone in Java and Sumatra until 2024 is still facing some constrain. I think better to let new administration to do the task of building new capital in Kalimantan while for the rest of Jokowi administration Sumatra and Java should be prioritized, particularly Sumatra.

I do not know about West Sumatra, but prrvioisly Aceh was very unfriendly to investments to the point that Banda Aceh was the slowest growing provincial capital in Sumatera.

Guess its leaders are trying to shift to domestic tourism and better economic integration now that their Shariah law hit their international tourism arrivals.
