Indonesia has a $412 billion plan to rebuild the country

Jakarta-Surabaya railway, will we use the CN or JP technology? Which one do you prefer?
CN did out-manouvered JP for the Jakarta-Bandung HSR project.
Gelar tiker sambil nonton dipojokan, siapa yang bisa kasih deal lebih mantap.
Its most likely gonna be China again. As it turns out, Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Rail line is the first phase of the future Jakarta-Surabaya High Speed Rail line itself.

Here is the project overview taken from the site.

Well, I personally dont mind as long as we keep using this fuxing train for JKT-SBY HSR line as well. :enjoy:

This amount of money for a country of the seize of Indonesia isn't actually that much. Considering Indonesia's geography, it's probably far too little.

Indonesia plans to start building 7km sea bridge linking Batam and Bintan next year
Thursday, 11/07/2019

JAKARTA (BLOOMBERG) - Indonesia plans to start building its longest sea bridge next year to connect two islands near Singapore and boost growth and trade with the neighboring hub.

The 7km bridge connecting Batam and Bintan will cost as much as 4 trillion rupiah (S$385 million) and construction is set to take three to four years, the country's Cabinet secretariat said in a statement on Thursday (July 11).

President Joko Widodo, who has secured his second term in office, is embarking on a more than US$400 billion (S$542 billion) infrastructure push.

The government wants to reposition Batam as an alternative shipping and manufacturing hub to Singapore with a potential to draw US$60 billion in new investment.

The ministry in charge of public works is preparing a feasibility study and analyzing engineering designs, and is aiming to complete these by year end, according to the statement.

Indonesia is developing the Batam area to attract opportunities potentially arising from trade tensions between the US and China, according to Mr Edy Putra Irawady, head of Batam Development Body.

The bridge would also complement Singapore's effort to boost air-passenger traffic by building a fifth terminal for its Changi Airport.

Indonesia wants the bridge to reduce logistics costs, improve connectivity and boost tourism in the area.

Mr Joko's administration is also reviewing the possibility to connect Peninsular Malaysia with the Indonesian island of Sumatra, head of the country's toll-road regulator, Mr Danang Parikesit, said in an interview last month.

.

I do a little research and found out that Bintan is larger than Singapore with population is only 300.000. It also has fresh water and very beautiful. It can attract both industry and tourist. A very promising island.

Batam with its free trade zone is for industry and bintan is for vacation, make money in batam and spend it in bintan.:flame:
Batam + bintan =
But bintan it self not in the list of 10 new bali.

Bintan is also where provincial capital of Riau Islands is located. It's an important island.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Public Works and Housing Ministry plans to call for tenders for the construction of toll road sections this year.

"Under the KPBU (government-corporate body cooperation) scheme, the government aims to address the lack of funding for the development of infrastructure, particularly toll roads, so they could be completed on schedule to offer real benefits to the state and nation," Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono noted in a written statement released on Monday.

Related news: Indonesia's toll road development must catch up with other countries

The Public Works and Housing Ministry, through the Toll Road Regulatory Body (BPJT), will call for tenders for the construction of seven toll road sections, with a total investment of Rp151.13 trillion.

The seven toll road sections are the Semanan-Balaraja section spanning 31.9 kilometers in length; Kamal-Teluknaga-Rajeg section measuring 38.6 kilometers in length; road access to Patimban Port, with a length of 37.7 kilometers; Gedebage-Tasikmalaya-Cilacap section of 184 kilometers in length; Yogyakarta-Bawen section reaching 77 kilometers in length; Solo-Yogyakarta-New Yogyakarta International Airport (NYIA) Kulon Progo section of 91.93 kilometers in length; and Balikpapan-Penajam Paser Utara section, with a length of 7.35 kilometers.

Of the seven toll road sections, the Balikpapan-Penajam Paser Utara section was put out to tender under the right to match method, with PT Tol Teluk Balikpapan as the winner. The designs of other toll road sections are being finalized.

"Involvement of the private sector has an impact on the leverage of their investment, so the profit can be used to develop other infrastructure," he noted.

The government has provided viability gap fund (VGF) in the form of guarantee and funding support from the state budget to finance part of the toll road construction, so that it can increase the financial viability of the toll road section.

Private investment is necessary to develop the toll road sections owing to lack of the government's infrastructure funding. Through the state budgets from 2020 to 2024, the government will solely be able to meet 30 percent of the Rp623 trillion required to build the toll road sections. Overall, funding requirements for infrastructure development during the time period are projected to reach Rp2,058 trillion. Karawang (ANTARA) - By the end of June 2019, 86 percent of the construction work of the Jakarta-Cikampek II Flyover Toll Road would be completed, PT Jasa Marga has stated.

The total construction of the 36.40-kilometer flyover toll road will be completed by the end of September 2019, PT Jasa Marga's President Director of the Cikampek Elevated Toll Road, Djoko Dwijono, said Friday.

"So, the physical work has reached 86 percent and the construction is targeted to be completed by the end of September 2019. The next step is to conduct a proper function test and proper operation," he said, in a press release received in Cikampek, West Java.

As part of the construction of the Jakarta-Cikampek II of the Elevated Toll Road, there are 139 "steel box girders" which are yet to be installed, he said.

What is still required in the construction is the work of installing 2,585 steel box girders.

The installation of the steel box girders is carried out every day, between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m, according to him.

His party always coordinated with various other parties who were implementing projects around the Jakarta-Cikampek Flyover Toll Road such as the Jakarta-East Bekasi LRT, Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train, and Cibitung-Cilincing Toll Road, he stated.

Coordination is necessary so that the construction of projects around the Jakarta-Cikampek Flyover Toll Road does not become a hindrance for others.

The Layang Jakarta-Cikampek II Elevated Toll Road project extends from the Cikunir to Karawang Barat section.

Later, this toll will road serve to reduce the density of traffic along the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road.

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Pemerintah memastikan bakal terus melanjutkan pembangunan infrastruktur terutama jalan tol.

Control isn't just about enforcing the law, it's about having the ability to provide government services to the people.

As you rightly pointed out, delivering vital service is essential, but I'd go one step further and say that it is the only way the central government can have proper authority over all o indonesia.

That is true, which is why the spending priority given for building infrastructure to facilitate the movement of people & goods. Having better connectivity is paramount to instill a sense of unity.

admittedly, I'm still a novice, when it comes to indonesia's geopolitics, so I apologize for getting things wrong.

To understand anything about Indonesia you first need to have a map and some knowledge how to read one. The main reason for this is, media reporting are always framing what happen in certain place as a represent of the whole country (which is not). The nature of archipelago nation mean the majority of Indonesia population tend to stay within their home island, and even in the same island there is always some geographical barrier such as mountain or dense jungle which which further isolating each population center, thus the need for new connectivity infrastructures.

May I ask, how has the education budget actually faired? Has it actually resulted in good quality education, or just the basics that everyone should know? I ask, because having a large budget doesn't really mean good quality will be provided.

It's all depend of what matrix you use to quantified the quality of education.
I'm a product of the Indonesia Orde Baru regime (Gen-X demographic) thus my line of thinking tend to follow suite. IMO the current Indonesia education system (curriculum) is at the bottom of the barrel.

Semarang city government plans to build autonomous rail transit: mayor

Semarang, C Java (ANTARA) - The Semarang city administration plans to build an Autonomous Rail Transit (ART) system to offer its residents with efficient mobility based on the rail-based public transportation mode’s reliability for this vibrant city.

For the implementation of the plan, the city government will forge collaboration with state-owned railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), Semarang Mayor Hendrar Prihadi informed journalists here on Saturday.

"The rail-based mode of public transportation is the most reliable for Semarang," he noted, adding that the ART system will meet the residents' demand for a comfortable and fast mode of public transportation and contribute to this vibrant city's tourism sector.

This ART system will later be designed to serve several routes in the city, such as the Pemuda and MT Haryono Roads as well as the Simpang Lima Intersection area.

It might also serve as an alternative route of Pedurungan in eastern Semarang while heading to the Ahmad Yani Airport, he stated.

Historical records show that during the Dutch colonial era, trams plied in Semarang to support the mobility of its people.

Sentient of the grave challenges of traffic congestion in various cities in Indonesia, the central and city governments are working hand-in-hand to offer comfortable and swift modes of public transportation, including city buses and trains, to the residents.

For instance, LRT facility has been available to the local residents of Palembang, the capital city of South Sumatra Province, since 2018.

During the convening of the 2018 Asian Games, this LRT service had supported the mobility of enthusiasts in this multi-sports event.

According to the Committee for Acceleration of Priority Infrastructure Delivery's (KPPIP's) official website, this committee had estimated that the capital city of South Sumatra Province had a population totaling some two million in 2018.

The committee stated that Palembang's LRT had 13 stations, spreading from the Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport to the Jakabaring Sports City.

According to media reports, Palembang's residents have constantly been encouraged to use the city's public transportation modes, including LRT, which had been integrated with the Damri and Trans Musi buses since Feb 22, 2019.

To boost passenger flow, the LRT service has, until now, offered 52 daily trips to the city's residents, from 4:48 a.m. to 8:32 p.m. local time. Related news: Official confirms integration of LRT with Musi's ferry boats

LRT (light rail train) project phase I is 66.13 percent completed. The contractor, Adhi Karya, has also received a fourth payment for the project's work, amounting to Rp1.4 trillion.

Adhi Karya finance director Entus Asnawi said that progress for service line one, Cawang-Cibubur, had reached 85.7 percent. For service line two, the Cawang-Kuningan-Dukuh Atas route is 56.1 percent completed, while the work progress for service line three, Cawang-Bekasi Timur, is 59.5 percent.

The total payment received by Adhi Karya from the Jabodetabek LRT construction is Rp8.3 trillion. The LRT construction contract value is Rp20 trillion.

The LRT, said Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, is targeted to be fully operational in November 2021.

"This is not just a state budget project, but a collaboration of several ministries such as the SOE and Transportation [department]," he said.

The minister said that the estimated tariff each LRT ride is Rp12,000. "That is a subsidized fare because the commercial fare is Rp25,000. The government is subsidizing 50 percent," he said.

Budi added that the estimated fare of the LRT ticket price could later change. "There could be adjustments, that [figure] is temporary," he said.

Only LRT Jakarta routes Velodorome Kelapa Gading can be used right now, still on trial phase for public though. They are still free of charge, i think they are quite good and giving us another alternative to travelling in Jakarta. LRT jabodebek is another game changer though, they are quite long (130 km) and connecting four cities at once (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok and Bekasi). Thus can giving more choice for commuter people another transportation line system, besides Jakarta Commuter Lines services.
