i thought this deserves a thread on it's own. nowadays the relation between the two countries gets stronger, and this marks the future of the old Soviet-Indonesia relationship. this helps to secure Russia's interest in South East Asia. what would becoming of the US pivot to Asia now?

"The agenda of the intergovernmental commission meeting includes a number of important economic, trade and investment issues, including the possibility of Indonesia's participation in the EEU. Jakarta is strongly interested in joining this union, as it is an important potential market," Supriyadi told RIA Novosti in an interview published on Monday.

also this reminds me that we operated the Tupolev Bomber back in the day

I think we are talking about a free trade zone, rather than full membership.

.
Won't it be more realistic to work towards a Southern Asian Union consisting of geographically contagious nations from Philippines to Turkey? Since India has proclaimed itself a deshi super power, it should be exluded.

that's what i thought at first. but since we in the ASEAN has the ASEAN + (with countries such as China, Japan and even EU), will EEU be follows the same as well? considering that the EEU can expand beyond it's supposed region, wouldn't that makes it even more powerful?

it won't be just a free trade zone as we're getting much closer to the Russian and other ex-soviet countries. it can be everything ranging from Tourism

http://www.antaranews.com/en/news/1...ts-100-thousand-russian-tourists-to-indonesia

to Technologies (i do hope the russian continues the floating nuclear power plant here)

http://www.antaranews.com/en/news/107469/russia-explores-technology-projects-in-indonesia

and of course overseas investment

http://www.antaranews.com/en/news/1...s-first-to-invest-in-russian-aviation-company

all this while the deal of Su-35 still on-progress of course.

that's a high possibility. but i have no clues or leads as of now. in the future there will be similiar cooperations with the south asian countries as we're also looking into possibilities in south asia.
