How much foreign exchange can we hope to get from 1m tons of rice? I don't think the number will be more than $1-2 billion which is pocket change compared to the amount of money we need.



We need to rapidly move towards export of manufactured products, there isn't enough money in agriculture export.

It isn't necessary to sign a single deal worth all the money we need. The aggregate of our exports must be increased. Whether it is done through a few multi-billion dollar deals or many smaller deals that combine to get us what we need.

Lastly, focusing on manufactured products would still take a lot of time to get from planning to production. We must sell what we currently have AND focusing on increasing our capacity whilst adding newer products and industries.

I won't read too much about that particular statement from BuLog Chief (Logistic Chief).
Indonesia will always need to import white rice every year from variety of source regardless of domestic availability of supply. The main reason for this is to saturate market by oversupplying it to keep consumer price down (thus controlling inflation)

It's not like we need 40-50 billion dollars, we need 10 billion dollars, so a 1-2 billion dollar isn't a pocket change.

Our manufactured goods are also Agro based, textile/leather etc.,

Just within a year we can double our agriculture exports, all we need is seriousness from the govt. - with Agriculture, everything is already in place, for short term solution; Agriculture is the only route.

Just to give an example, halal meat market is approx three trillion dollars around the globe.
