:pop: https://www.salon.com/2017/07/19/hi...ry-with-cows-and-people-who-eat-them_partner/

"Scholars have known for centuries that the ancient Indians ate beef. After the fourth century B.C., when the practice of vegetarianism spread throughout India among Buddhists, Jains and Hindus, many Hindus continued to eat beef.

In the time of the oldest Hindu sacred text, the Rig Veda (c. 1500 B.C.), cow meat was consumed. Like most cattle-breeding cultures, the Vedic Indians generally ate the castrated steers, but they wouldeat the female of the species during rituals or when welcoming a guest or a person of high status.

Ancient ritual texts known as Brahmanas (c. 900 B.C.) and other texts that taught religious duty (dharma), from the third century B.C., saythat a bull or cow should be killed to be eaten when a guest arrives.

According to these texts, “the cow is food.” Even when one passage in the “Shatapatha Brahmana” (3.1.2.21) forbids the eating of either cow or bull, a revered ancient Hindu sage named Yajnavalkya immediately contradicts it, saying that, nevertheless, he eats the meat of both cow and bull, “as long as it’s tender.”

It was the Sanskrit epic, the Mahabharata (composed between 300 B.C. and A.D. 300) that explained the transition to the non eating of cows in a famous myth:
“Once, when there was a great famine, King Prithu took up his bow and arrow and pursued the Earth to force her to yield nourishment for his people. The Earth assumed the form of a cow and begged him to spare her life; she then allowed him to milk her for all that the people needed.”
This myth imagines a transition from hunting wild cattle to preserving their lives, domesticating them, and breeding them for milk, a transition to agriculture and pastoral life. It visualizes the cow as the paradigmatic animal that yields food without being killed."

Your stuff got changed (by foreigners) between 300bc and 300ad. You modern yindoos need to accept that you're not real Hindus. You bring shame upon your ancestors from the IVC for corruption of their religion.
According to you, now Buffalo is cow and cow is buffalo. LOL! The same family and stuff.
Yes, you're well on the way to an Olympic gold in mental gymnastics. Don't stop now. Nearly there.

Lmao, where? All these claims, no actual quotes. I can give you even more quotes that exclusively forbade killing cows, from Rig Vedas. For example, Rigveda 10.87.16 ,17 :pop:
16. The fiend who smears himself with flesh of cattle, with flesh of horses and of human bodies,
Who steals the milch-cow's milk away, O Agni,—tear off the heads of such with fiery fury.
17 The cow gives milk each year, O Man-regarder: let not the Yātudhāna ever taste it.
If one would glut him with the biesting, Agni, pierce with thy flame his vitals as he meets thee.

May be the high catse hindu business tycoons want to have monopoly over meat market hence muslim entrepreneur are threatened with violence to give up their market share using religious inclinations of the majority as a tool
Out of six largest meat suppliers in India three are Hindus owned

New Delhi :Muslims are unnecessarily blamed maligned and targeted for excessive meat consumption while the fact is that Christians and Jews are the highest meat consumer communities. The world’s largest beef meat exporter country is Brazil followed by India,Australia, USA and UK.

When we see this matter in an Indian perspective we would be surprised to know that out of six largest meat exporters of India three are Hindu owned. In spite of these facts Muslims are harassed and targeted and as beef eaters. In several cases they are beaten severely by Hindutva brigades and put behind bars by the police. Many times communal riots took place only due to this blame game. These communal elements become more active during Eid ul Azha festival only to communalize the atmosphere.

But the same Hindutva brigades forget the Hindu animal sacrifice festivals which get media attention world over in which thousands of animals are killed ruthlessly.

There’s a ritual of sacrificing cow which is still performed in many temples of Himachal Pradesh, Surprisingly the high court had to intervene to stop those animal killings in the premises of Mandir specially at the Pashupatinath Temple

Recently in Nepal around a quarter million animals were killed during Gadhimai Hindu rituals festival .

Ironically many Hindu Businessmen are the largest beef suppliers of India.Following are the four largest beef exporters who are Hindus.

1) Arabian Exports Pvt.Ltd.
Owner’s name: Mr.Sunil Kapoor
Add: Russian Mansions, Overseas, Mumbai 400001

2) M.K.R Frozen Food Exports Pvt. Ltd.
Owner’s name Mr. Madan Abott.
Add : MG road, Janpath, New Delhi 110001

3) P.M.L Industries Pvt. Ltd.
Owner’s name: Mr. A.S Bindra
Add : S.C.O 62-63 Sector -34-A, Chandigarh 160022

Item 16 refers to some odd and bizarre crimes involving smearing of flesh, not eating or slaughtering for food. I agree that anyone who smears blood/flesh of an animal on himself should be punished severely for such nonsense. It also refers to stealing of milk - again, not eating beef.

Item 17 could plausibly be interpreted as you have suggested, however, it still creates a contradiction with other verses stated earlier.

There's also a contradiction with a whole load of stuff mentioned here:

Too much to itemise but feel free to browse. Multiple excerpts from Rigveda and other texts (e.g. Manusmriti) are noted.

haha it's not some bizarre crime, consuming cow is considered a beastly act, and hence the term smears. The quote just relates, eating cow and horses to eating humans.

You didn't quote any verses earlier though.
In the vedic times, cattle and farming was venerated and thus gave much importance to protecting them, because it's livelihood, as cow lives with the family and you're drinking the milk of cow, right after your mother, hence the sacrilege of cows came into being which developed over thousands of years.

This is just Rig Veda, then the other three Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas which looked down on eating cows in particular, and meat in general. Although consuming meat was not forbidden, it was left to one's needs, a situation they are in etc...

If you find contradictory statements, you must understand that's the nature of our books. They question themselves and allows free-thinking. There are texts dedicated to Agostic belives and an entire text in Hinduism that fully questions Vedas, find answers to the said questions. We are not people of a book or group of books and contradictions and questioning, rebelling etc.. is part of Hinduism.

Beef ban was used made by Brahmins to finish off Buddhism in India. As lots of lower castes where converting to Buddhism to escape caste system.

These Vedas are not as old as these people claim, oral version can't be older than 1000 years, written not older than 500 years. Vedas were all in Devanagri script. There were no written Vedas even during the time of Al-biruni(11th century) . Even the 'Ri' alphabet in Rigveda is not found before 6th century. Oldest reference of 'Ri' alphabet is found in 6th century, that is a buddhist text

This is the oldest proof of Rig Veda, and its only 1464 AD. Vedas are not older than Quran.
http://www.unesco.org/new/en/commun...-heritage/registered-heritage-page-7/rigveda/

I've attached a Unesco website to proof that. Brahmans will try to give links to some fake website of their, but truth is Islam was there before Vedic Hinduism.

Beef curry is a popular food in Kerala state ( southern state ) among all religious communities. Of course not those belonging to RSS.

In the southern town I live in there is a lane off the main road. This lane has some beef item shops and I have noticed that many non-Muslim young men and women throng these shops.

But I was saddened by the picture in the OP, of the cows hanging for slaughter. We should all switch to lab-grown beef / meat.

Did you invent self-contradiction or self-contradiction invent you?

For those propagating fake news that Buddhist don't eat beef. Here is a beef curry being made by Sinhala Buddhist

There is no issue about cow slaughter or beef ban in Buddhism. Infact, Beef ban was use by Brahmins in India to finish off Buddhism in India.

Anyone can search for Sri Lankan Beef curry or Myanmar Beef curry to confirm that Beef eaten by all Buddhist. Even Tibetan Dalai Lama eats Beef.

Great. Then consider Islam in the subcontinent a rebellion against Vedic Hindus for abandoning the true animist Hindu faith of the IVC. Vedic Hindus mutated an agrarian meat (including beef) eating faith into an elitist slave cult under the influence of foreigners who migrated from the Eurasian steppe. Islam was destined to arrive and counter-reform this harmful mutation.
