India's vanishing Communists

CPI(M) and Left front will retain West Bengal and Kerala...

I doubt that our system would work in India.

There are too many different ethnicities/religions/cultures etc.

The point made by Below Freezing is valid.

Nothing wrong with Communism or any other ideology per se.What matters is the ability to change with the times & aspiration of the ppl. The party in China learnt and has modified themselves. In India, the communist parties are still in the 40 -50's as far as thoughts go. The two states they have ruled were on paper the best suited to soar but have become the worst place for business.

Personally,I think the communist parties should change or perish.

Change to what? Change into what? And finally, how much? Is there a point where a 'communist' changed so much he is no longer a 'communist'? Then what good is it for him to continue calling himself a 'communist'? A person can have firm moral and ideological convictions but can also have a healthy dose of pragmatism in trying to coexist with others who do not share the same convictions as he has. Unfortunately for the communist, the only successful communist societies that ever exist so far are the family unit and the religious order.

The family unit is a non-voluntary dictatorship. It is paternalistic in the extreme where there is a ruling clique that knows what is better for the rest of the unit and acts accordingly, from doling out punishments and favors to guidance on members' growth.

The religious order is a voluntary dictatorship where everyone entered by his own volition and submit to an authority figure by his own internal moral compulsion. Unlike the family unit where there are genuinely ignorant and immature members that need guidance, a religious order is usually made up of people of relatively the same maturity level and similar moral convictions. A religious order is not paternalistic.

In the family unit, everyone usually live by the Marxist credo: 'From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.' and they have no choice. The teenager do more work than the baby. The parents bear the greatest burdens towards the greater good of the family. For the religious order, every live by the same credo but again, it is a lifestyle driven by an internal moral compulsion.

To date, not a single successful VOLUNTARY communist country have been produced by communists. When contrasted against democratic/capitalist countries, the communist ones trails in every aspects of humanity.

Communists should be persecuted for their beliefs. I said persecuted, not prosecuted. By that I mean they should be challenged for their results, or lack thereof. When challenged long and thorough enough, communists will eventually resort to violence and that is when all will see their true evil faces.

Statistically speaking, and notwithstanding current wave of 'change', the likelihood of Left Front coming back to power in WB is less.

On-the-loose loudmouths like Anil Basu and Gautam Deb are not helping at all.

I just hope Mamata will not start cultivating paddy in sector 5 after coming to power! :(

kerala education system is very myuch transparent and absolutely free of cost till 10th
less communal issues....

being business enviorment state means we need to give our lands to MNCs to free of cost just for creating few job opportunities... if yes we are against that..

The lasting legacy of Kerala's Communists will be Land Reform Act by which Zamindari System was effectively abolished. If Kerala is not facing any Maoist threat now is because of this Act as it eliminated the foot soldiers for the Maoists- the landless farmers.

Communists may lose this election as the minorities especially Christians have become against them and it is all because the Govt tried to cap the fees being collected from the professional colleges so that children of the poor will also have a chance to study in these colleges. Increasingly religion have become a mask for business and the religious leaders are increasingly speaking the language of corporate CEOs.

People may see her as a good minister, but the way she handled Railway ministry was a Disgrace, with her famous tantrums!!

The problem with Communist part in India is the high level Netas are understanding and accepting the changes, but not able to execute to the lower party cadre levels. They still stuck in 1960s & 1970s.

Anyway, I read somewhere there IB informed PMO that in Kerala, CPM will retain the power and will break the record.., just wait and see..
