India's toxic obsession

Sure, you are "doing fine".

I wish you good luck, but when you take out a calculator and check out what 3-4% GDP growth per annum will add to your GDP in a decade, you're going to feel sick.

China had three whole decades of sustained double-digit growth, and we are still a developing economy.

India hasn't even STARTED to have sustained double-digit growth, after three decades you will see how much of a difference a few percentage points can make in terms of compound interest.

But don't worry, delusions will make up for it. A few words from India's favourite President:

India to become superpower by 2012: Kalam - Economic Times

Again ?

Why dont you lay off ?

If India had a system of governance like China does things may have been different. But we are happy to have our voices heard and not being snuffed out.

We prefer to elect our leaders and are prepared to suffer the consequences of our decisions.

Like I said, don't blame democracy. Canada doesn't have half its population sh*tting on the streets, and forcing Dalits to pick it up.

Tribune has lost all credibility for me. Its journalism seems less professional and objective, and seems more like ranting blog by Tom, Dick and Harry....

Indians still haven't come around to realize that China could, if so she wishes, level out New Delhi simply by using rocket artilleries? After all, India's capital is located just some 300km away from the Sino-Indian border. And the Chinese have the command of heights?
Get well soon

Research shows that patients, especially ones with obsessive-compulsive disorders, often urge or even beg others to seek medical advices.

Research also shows that people who do not fully understand languages must not hazard comments on what others write.

A senior Indian analyst shared the report on his Facebook wall with an obsessively cynical comment, “More important is whether we can take it [the bomber] down before it reaches Mughalsarai?” For those who don’t know, Mughalsarai is a city in Uttar Pradesh, India’s fifth largest and most populous state. The comment shows India’s growing obsession with China.

The opinions of a "senior Indian analyst" don't count as official policy. We have been, in the humble view of this "junior Indian analyst", extraordinarily patient with China with regards to incursions made on our soil, stapled visas and steadfast in our cooperation on Tibet. We needn't necessarily do so, a fact that needs to be reminded to the Chinese governance.

I don't know if we have toxic obsession about our neighbors but we are definitely obsessed about improving our living standards.

Pakistan is nothing but a slight irritant which can never stymie India's growth potential. China is a formidable foe both militarily and economically whom we look up to for inspiration.

I agree just a slight irritant, problem is it irritates where itching cant make you sit straight and scratching it in public is very embarrassing.

I just hope their youth will make a difference because I don't have any hope with their old guard and their hawkish elements who are hell bent in destabilizing India.
