My user name makes it obvious. :)

Look, I wasn't trolling or anything. I posted that without thinking much.

I do apologise for the inconvenience caused.

But yes, doing non nonsensical things is a distinctively mallu trait. Or we wouldn't have the non nonsensical communists in our state :D

I was right!!!!

@DESERT FIGHTER. It depends, some Keralites find it offensive. Others don't.

We kind of deserve it a little bit. We do tend to go on and on about 90% literacy rate and other high social indicators.

kerala etc arent all of you south indian people tamils?

There are four provinces within South India.

Tamils belong to Tamil Nadu. They apeak Tamil and are called Tamilains. They have one of the most richest, and classical language, history and culture.

Mallus or Malayalis belong to Kerala, our language is similar to Tamil but is a sanskritised version of it. But we are different from Tamilians culture wise, language wise and in politics.

People in Andhra Pradesh speak Telugu and they have their own language, culture and food. Their capital city is Hyderabad. Andhra Pradesh will soon split in to Telangana and Seemandhra.

People in Karnataka speak Kannada, they have their own unique culture and food as well.

North Indians, who cannot appreciate the differences collectively call us 'Madrasis' a city in Tamil Nadu.

And South Indians call everyonelse North Indians, forgetting North-Eastern Indians are different from the North and South.

Even though there are some similarities, the cultural gap between South Indians are there.

For example, I can't speak Kannada, I can understand Tamil but cannot speak Tamil

For example, calling a Kerlaite the same as a Tamilan is like saying a Sindhi in Pakistan is the same as a Pakistani Punjabi.

Does this help @ DESERT FIGHTER?

Punjabi and sindhi have less than 10% common words.. although sarieki and sindhi have similiarities.. as in the accent.... some words etc.. and generally a serieki speaker can understand 50-60% easily if not speak sindhi..

While according to u mallu (funny name) and tamils have same language just a little sanskritised etc.. ? in short you guys are kinda same people with different accents?

Also can you tell me why you guys use coconut in everything? lol

Malayalam and Tamil are different languages, they are not different accents, or even dialects. It's like Hindia and Urdu, are they the same? No.

Malayalam has different words to Tamil, but the similarities are enough that I can understand some of it. But Malayalees still have to learn Tamil to fully understand it.

Calling it another accent is not accurate. They are different languages. Our written words don't look the same, we have different words for things.

Also keep in mind that Pakistanis have more in common with North Indians than North Indians would have with a South Indian. There is this North - South divide.

Coconut Trees are dime a dozen in Kerala. So it makes sense to use it for everything. Just like you have people in the Ivory Coast who use Cocoa for different purposes.

Fair enough.. whats the north-south divide? whats it all about? racism or what!?

The racism is propagated by stereotypes. Ignorant North Indians will make comments based on South Indians being dark, or the North Indians being more aggressive.

Ignorant South Indians will point to the literacy rates and the academic over achienvement of South Indians to prove they are intellectually superior.

While a lot of states in North India do practice female infanticide, does have poverty rates higher and religious rioting more, that's no consolation to South India as it too has it's own social and economic problems.

The IT boom spear headed by South Indians haven't soothed our egos either :D
