India's retiring vice-president says intolerance in India is rising under Modi with Hindu groups

Pakistanis are more concerned about their country than their own country. Such a good neighbours. :dance3:

we just see it as a reality check as to the direction india is heading in and the inevitability of the chaos and division that is yet to come. As your enemy we need to be on top of these things

Hmmm.. So if he did include Christians, Who seems to be the next largest religious group facing threats from the right wing Hindu's.. Would you still say he lost credibility cos then he will be only speaking behalf of Abrahamic religions ?

He should have spoken about all Indians (Hindu, Dalit, Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Jew or Parsi) who increasingly felt disgusted about the way certain elements of the sangh were being given a free hand in the country.

At the way the promises of acche din, and sabka saath sabka vikaas, had given way to a toxic ideology that had no place in secular India.

He is the VP for crying out loud. He is not a small man.

We dont need him to tell us what's wrong. We know it. We see it. We live it.

We read the papers and see the news. We live here and experience it and its various forms, on the ground, and in social media.

From him we needed a statement by a man above all the narrow divisions of India.

Instead he speaks about how the Muslims are uneasy.

And gets labeled as a Muslim by the gleeful Hindu right.

He does no one a service. Not his country. His community. Or himself.

Cheers, Doc

Well at the end of the day he is/was a politician after all

I would say the message is lost if you keep looking at it through the prism of segregation
He did lose credibility. The Constitutional Posts of India have always maintained dignity. Which is why their words have always had a massive impact on the Nation at large.

Had he said a large number of Indians have started feeling insecure or something of the sort, the same message would have been conveyed but with dignity of the post.
He has not only reduced and practically removed his credibility personally, he has also lowered that of the Constitutional Post.

Edit - I guess this just goes to show the moral bankruptcy of the current day Congress stock.

PM's remarks at the farewell function in Parliament, for Vice President Hamid Ansari

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today appreciated Vice President Shri Hamid Ansari, saying that it reflects his skill, patience and intellect, to be able to function as Chairman of the Rajya Sabha for 10 years, where one has to be calm in all situations.

Speaking at the farewell function in Parliament for Shri Hamid Ansari, the Prime Minister said that the long public life of Shri Ansari has been without any controversy.

The Prime Minister said that Shri Ansari's family has been in public life for generations. He particularly recalled Brigadier Usman, who had embraced martyrdom defending the nation in 1948.

The Prime Minister suggested that Shri Ansari, with his long experience of running the Rajya Sabha, should pen down his thoughts on how the functioning of the Upper House can be made more effective.

Chaos?

We are dealing with corruption and moving forward towards building a stronger democratic nation.

We have broke the back of terrorism and they are limited to opportunistic attacks on soft targets once in a blue moon

We have never elected extremists like Modi and have increasingly in acted laws to be inclusive and protect minorities

India is going the other way and EVEN your vice president is worried

Democracy (Urdu: جمہوریت‎; pronounced jamhooriat) is one of the ideologies and systems upon which Pakistan was sought to be established in 1947 as a nation-state, as envisaged by the leader and founding father of the nation, Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Pakistan constitutionally is a democratic parliamentary republic with its political system based on an elected form of governance. However, in past history there have been deviations from democracy in the form of military coups and political uncertainty.[1] Today Pakistan is the one of the newest functioning democracies since 2008, with the first democratic elections held in 2013 to complete a 5 year term for the first time in its political history.:rofl:
