Speaks a boat load about Chinese ethics. While some countries are there to actually help, others just want to shoot propaganda videos and showoff.

Locals seem to be more at ease with the Indian teams. Kamal Bhandari, a guest house owner, said five of his family — including two children aged seven and nine — were buried in a building assigned to the Chinese rescue team. “They seemed to be more interested in videography and smoking cigarettes,” he said.

A senior Indian official said, “I wouldn’t criticise them for their work but they are seen as a bit aloof. Language is another barrier”. An NDRF official said a Chinese rescue team visited Hotel Tanhu Byasone of the buildings in which Indians are working — along with some journalists to shoot a video of themselves but were politely asked to leave.

Nepal police constable DB Lepcha said the Chinese would turn down requests made by him and his colleagues to visit the location under them. “We are more comfortable with the Indians,” said S Giri, another policeman, deployed in Gongabu.

Yeah sure, you can show how much of a number 1 country you are by smoking and shooting videos while we actually help the Nepalese.

Enjoy that 50c for that post.

You see, the Indian Army has Gorkha battalions most of whom come from Nepal. The officers in these battalions have to pass their basic Nepalese language test. All of them, jawans as well as officers speak Nepalese and Hindi in the battalions.

It is therefore no surprise that Gorkha soldiers were sent by by the Indian Army to Nepal. In addition the task force commander for Op Maitri, Major General JS Sandhu is from the Gorkha Regiment himself and so is his deputy, both well versed in the local language. It is a great advantage to know the language for better interaction with the locals.

The Indian personnel are working closely with hundreds of retired Gorkha soldiers of the Indian Army living in Nepal.

well,India has benefit in case of Nepal as we know Nepal culturally and linguistically better than anyone.and thats it.In fact most of us see Nepal as more like another state of India than other country, due to level of closeness with India.Wouldn't question anyone's intention as china pledged pretty massive sum to Nepal.but this "Aid War" isn't Indian Media's creation as I've seen it in multiple renowned international newspapers as well.as sane these aids look,it is always pledged to gain some point on these countries, which nobody can deny...

Who is left out ? It's not a bloody competition..

The whole world community is involved in some capacity or another to help the Nepali nation.. Attempting to score some silly brownie points from some irrelevant issue like language, Just shows your inferiority complex.. Nobody down played India's contribution, Certainly not the Chinese, So whats the necessity to highlight thier language barrier in a national news paper ?

Small mental victories for small minded people

Nothing to crib about it...These kind of soft nationalism is not indeed bad too....What is wrong with it? We are not complaining about any one rather media trying to present to the Indian public about how far the Indian gov and institiions are engaged outside India to address the challenges...

And to your point that we have small mind..Of course..we have small mind...In a fair sense, India is not a big player in international nor Asia politics...So being a ambitious player in world league, these kind of news provides good feeling to the citizen of India..

Do you read the article ? Can you even read properly ?

Its not the language issue only. Nepalese have raised the issue that chinese were more interested in videography and smoking cigaretes, rather than helping the victims. Chinese also turned down any request for help raised by the nepalese people.
Dont be BS. Its a propaganda by Indian to smear Chinese. The indians can write whatever fabricate they want.

Yeah sure, you can show how much of a number 1 country you are by smoking and shooting videos while we actually help the Nepalese.

Show me the video? Indian is famous for fabricating things.
