India’s population is set to overtake China’s by 2022

.
One advantage of India's population trend is that they have a lot more younger workers than China, effectively ensuring continuing growth for at least two generations. In 15 years, China is going to have to tackle a diminishing workforce and increased spending for elderly.
we are tackling it now by eliminating the one child policy. We do things ahead of time not need to wait 15 years.

.
Yes spending means consumption, but elderly spend only on certain things.

Also, apart from spending one also needs actual productive labor.

I think over time China will regret there whole policy and attitude on population.

Labor are in surplus in most part of the world, thus having a greater labor pool doesn't bring more productivity, rather it means less resource which is the limiting factor here for everyone. I think over time, China and the entire world will be grateful for its population control policy.

As long as China's population is around 1.3b it is populous enough to support our domestic industries. We do not need to worry about world sanctions etc.

increased spending for elderly is indeed a problem for china. But china can import workers from se asia, can update the industrie, they is all kinds of ways. For india, I don't think the uneducated youth is a big favor.

you japs are more overpopulated in density than india,OMG!130 million japs are scrunched and squeezed into an island way smaller than Sichuan province, hard to imagine

FYI, "japs" like "chinaman", is also a racist word, you should not use it as a comon word.
Sorry for this, @Nihonjin1051.

Thank you @Sommer , at least it is enlightening to know that tho we may have differences in political opinions, we share a common sight in understanding what is wrong. See you around, buddy.

Even china and japan are enemies, still we should treat each other with respect.
And yet we are not enemies, china and japan just have some argument and competition. It's not totally unsolvable.
See you around. :)

Robots are already able to profitably replace 10 workers. That curve in China will only increase.

. . .
Um. That would mean over 6 billion would die... :o:

G-d Forbid!
That's right baby.

People who said that India's populations growth is a good thing.

My face when I heard them yap their mouths:

Look India those young kids you brought into life maybe good for the economy for the moments, but remember those kids are going to grow old sooner or later and that means the Indian gov. & its people will have to provide for them sooner than you think. Which means a lot of your resources will go into taking care of the new elderly populations.

In 15 years, for good or bad, many of China's factories will be operated by autonomous machineries and robots supervised/controlled by highly skilled workers.

And it is already started happening today:

Chinese factory replaces 90% of humans with robots, production soars
China’s Hunger for Robots Marks Significant Shift - WSJ
The Changying Precision Technology Company factory in Dongguan has automated production lines that use robotic arms to produce parts for cell phones. The factory also has automated machining equipment, autonomous transport trucks, and other automated equipment in the warehouse.

There are still people working at the factory, though. Three workers check and monitor each production line and there are other employees who monitor a computer control system. Previously, there were 650 employees at the factory. With the new robots, there's now only 60. Luo Weiqiang, general manager of the company, told the People's Daily that the number of employees could drop to 20 in the future.

The robots have produced almost three times as many pieces as were produced before. According to the People's Daily, production per person has increased from 8,000 pieces to 21,000 pieces. That's a 162.5% increase.

China's Factories Are Building a Robot Nation
China's Factories Are Building a Robot Nation -

however, 58% of the robots used in China are still produced by other nations
Four multinational companies – Switzerland's ABB Group, Japan's Fanuc Corp. and Yaskawa Electric Corp., and Germany's Kuka Robot Group – are the dominant suppliers of robotic systems for factories in China. Mir Industry, a Chinese industrial consultancy, said the four account for about 58 percent of the nationwide market.

but China robotic industry is catching up fast
Manufacturers have benefited from growing competition between Chinese and multinational robot companies. Qin said Chinese robot-makers since around 2010 have been offering budget-priced machines that forced global manufacturers to drastically cut prices. ABB, for example, last year slashed the price of a robot model similar to one made by Xinpeng to 200,000 yuan from 500,000 yuan, he said.

With Artificial Intelligent and Robotics evolving so fast, in the next few decades, most of the repetitive jobs and factory works will be replaced by them.
